Democrats set to take Texas redistricting fight to the courts
The Hill ^ | 08/24/2025 | JULIA MUELLER

The Texas redistricting battle is entering a new front as the fight turns to the courts, where Democrats and civil rights groups are expected to challenge the newly passed maps.

Texas House Democrats who had fled the state to stall the maps said that they were returning “to the House floor and to the courthouse” this week — and several groups signaled they are ready to sue as soon as Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signs the legislation.

But experts forecast Democrats will face an uphill climb to stop or even stall the maps, which could net five GOP House seats, from taking effect ahead of next year’s high-stakes midterms.

Of course they will. And I predict that the new district maps won’t become effective by the next election due to protracted litigation. Dems are expert at this.

And what ever happened to standing in a court case? Doesn’t someone have to prove that they are materially harmed by some action before they can go to court?

I’ve looked at the new district map for Texas. It seems the least gerrymandered state in the country.

that’s because it WAS gerrymandered to ensure black representation.

They are simply undoing the extra crap necessary to give blacks additional seats.

Indeed. It’s very blocky by any standard.

As long as it’s tied up in court, the Dems shouldn’t affect the districting for the midterms.

Oh yes they WILL become effective long before the 2026 elections.
This is Texas not New York.

That depends on at what point the litigation is in by the election. If a hand-shopped leftist court puts a stay on the newly drawn districts, or even REDRAWS them, the timing my go to the dems.

We’ll see. There are a lot of leftist plants in the court system even in Texas.

That standard only applies to conservative Republicans.

Unelected Obama judge will rule against elected state Congress of Texas.

Maybe MA, NJ, IL, CA,MD, etc should be taken to court as well. They’ve been doing this for decades.

“ that’s because it WAS gerrymandered to ensure black representation.”
The theft of the 2020 election resulted in gerrymandering our area here in central TX. That stolen election had consequences and we need correction!

And they’ll fail.

After the 2020 census, Texas did redistricting, as per norms. There was a lawsuit, an appeal, and Texas is FINALLY doing the redistricting it was supposed to do after the 2020 census.

They’ve got to be running out of low I.Q. Skank Dipstick “judges”. The Weaponized judicial system in going to collapse in this country. Too much America hatred in that sewer.
