In a recent interview, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) claimed he feels “perfectly safe” walking around Washington, D.C., early in the morning. However, Fox News was quick to highlight the glaring contradiction, which is that Schumer is protected by a full-time security detail, raising serious questions about his true perception of safety in the nation’s capital.
Washington, D.C., has long struggled with a surge in violent crime, with neighborhoods plagued by shootings, robberies, and other criminal activity. The growing lawlessness has been a point of contention among lawmakers and citizens alike, especially as many Democratic leaders have pushed policies that critics say undermine law enforcement efforts. However, thanks to President Donald Trump’s decisive action to federalize D.C. and deploy the National Guard, the city has made a dramatic turnaround in its fight against crime.
Fox News emphasized that, “It’s important to point out that Senator Schumer, like Congressional Leaders from the Republican Party, also have security details with them full time while they are here in D.C.”
Schumer’s assertion of feeling “perfectly safe” seems disconnected from the reality experienced by everyday Americans who face the consequences of rising crime. While Schumer strolls with constant protection, the average D.C. resident is forced to navigate D.C. with far less security.
The message is clear that while elite politicians enjoy the safety of government-provided protection, the rest of the city’s residents live in fear amid growing crime waves. This glaring double standard fuels frustration and mistrust among voters who demand real solutions to restore law and order.

He’s almost making the case for not having a security detail.
Notice he didn’t imply anyone else is safe, or even that he is safe. He said he “feels” safe.
He said he’ll fight Trump’s attempt to extend control “tooth and nail”. Since the people of DC like feeling safe, that’s exactly what I hope the dumbocrats continue to do.
Grok
As Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer has a 24/7 security detail from the U.S. Capitol Police. The exact number of armed bodyguards varies but typically includes 2-5 officers at all times, based on threat levels—public details are limited for security reasons.
He does not walk in DC without armed security; protocol requires protection for leaders, despite his claims of feeling safe on walks.

But the Baileys don’t have a security detail protecting them when they step out of their security vehicle.
I think that thugs are a’skeered of sleestaks. I know I was when I was a kid on Saturday morning.
Doesn’t everybody have a full time security team?
Maybe Fox News could ask him to walk around DC without his security guard at 3AM... they can film from a distance. Let see if Schumer is willing to put himself in the spot ordinary citizens are in...
“Despite” ???
No: BECAUSE of.
How out of touch can you be?
(I put MTM on the front because I’m a fan of Mary Tyler Moore.)
chuckie has put more cheese on his raw burger
“”””Maybe Fox News could ask him to walk around DC without his security guard at 3AM... they can film from a distance.””
Tell him to put a GoPro camera on his head and walk around at night alone until he gets attacked. We could all place bets on when it would happen. Make it a reality show.
Like I’ve said before. If the illegal aliens and criminal wannabes start attacking government officials like Tumor ... I mean Schumer then they will start supporting deportations for the illegals and harsher prison sentences for law breakers.
Why? He is not in succession line. He is just an AH dem senator.
Drop him off downtown at 2am with NO security detail, no shoes or weapons....let’s see how he does over a couple of hours or so of wandering around in his socks.
“Why? He is not in succession line. He is just an AH dem senator.”
He was Senate majority leader.
Congress appropriates ...
Routinely, whether it is crime or some other topic, most congresscritters see political issues thru a narrow, warped perspective of 1) their own experience 2) What they were taught in school/college 3) what they see on CNN/MSNBC.
Another 90-10 issue the Dumwits are on the 10% side.
