The Communist Party of China imposed a 75.8-percent tariff on Canadian canola products on Thursday, claiming that Canada was intentionally “dumping” underpriced canola seed into the Chinese market to hurt domestic farmers.
The measure appeared to be a response to the Canadian government, still under radical leftist Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the time, imposing a 100-percent tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) last year to protect Canada’s fledgling homemade EVs. Chinese state media explicitly mentioned Canada’s “trade protectionist and restrictive measures against China” in reporting the canola seed tariffs, accusing Ottawa of violating World Trade Organization (WTO) rules. Beijing regularly manipulates the WTO to benefit its economy, most prominently by presenting itself as a “developing” country despite being the world’s second-largest economy.
China’s tariffs follow months of the Canadian government, still under Liberal Party rule following the election of current Prime Minister Mark Carney, struggling to prevent the imposition of much smaller tariffs by the United States. Carney won a special election to replace Trudeau in April by proclaiming himself the best candidate to combat President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs, although Trump’s tariff policies against other countries had not actually impacted Canada at the time.
Trade talks with the United States have not, at press time, yielded any significant progress on lifting tariffs on Canadian goods, and Carney began admitting in July that he may not be able to convince Trump not to impose any tariffs. In early August, Trump announced a tariff of 35 percent on Canadian goods not covered by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), a continental free trade agreement.

If there’s anywhere (or anyone) good to send Canadian canola oil to poison people with that aviation lubricant, it’s that toxic waste dump, China. If they’re buying it and want to tariff it, just give it to them.
Hopefully Canola oil is on it’s way out except as machine lubricant.

Canada is becoming an isolated , backward country with protectionist policies between the provinces and by These liberal ashaoles like Carney, who goes around touting “ carbon neutral oil” while using federal environmental laws, and 1st nation treaties to prevent the construction of pipelines and to prevent the exploitation of natural resources, keeping Canada in line with DAVOS environmental religion.
The Liberals have one political skill......honed to perfection during the Covid pandemic........and that skill is the creation of fear in the Canadian electorate. Carney and his running dogs rule using fear. Fear of “Trump” , fear of crime, fear of poverty, and all of it foisted on Canadians by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation ( they received a 41 million pay off fro Carney after making sure he got elected with anti-Trump propaganda)...all designed to preserve a backward monopolistic economy where prices for most consumer products are fixed, single source supply granted by political favor with no product competition.......protected from competition by high tariffs while the protected industries and protected producers donate copious amounts of money to the Liberal party in order to keep their monopolies, and keep US goods out of their markets.
In short Canada is an economically isolated that has a military of only 100,000 full time service members, in a nation of 40 million with the worlds longest contiguous coastline, and filled with copious natural resources. In short , Canada is about to be reduced to a third world nation, refusing the Trump economic boom, and smugly thinking it is something greater than the Zimbabwe North it now becomes, nothing more than bait for Russian and Chinese invasion from it’s North.
Canada thinks the USA will defend it, without the USA taking Canada over? Why? Trump has many reasons to take over Canada. I hope it happens.
Trump will not put up with Carney much longer. Neither will Canadians once they learn the truth.
It appears the whole “elbows up” strategy isn’t working and next year the USMCA agreement comes up for renegotiation, given the state of the relationship between the two countries, Trump may be in the mood to show Canada what American “foot to ass” is all about
If Canada doesn’t reverse course their economy will start suffering a near depression
