After a daylong manhunt, police in Athens, Tennessee, have made an arrest in a shooting downtown on Wednesday that killed one and wounded another.
Carlos A. Quintana was captured by Bradley County and McMinn County deputies, federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents, Athens police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals Service and others, according to a statement from McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy.
Quintana, 24, was located at a residence in northeast Bradley County, Guy said. Court orders include requirements for an ankle monitor if Quintana makes bail. Quintana has been detained for investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
Quintana is being held on a $1 million bond, according to court officials.
Quintana has been booked on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, Athens Police Chief Fred Schultz said Friday.
The person killed has been identified as Matthew Rackley, 17, of Athens, Schultz said.
"This is a complicated investigation involving multiple crime scenes," Schultz said by text. …

"The next frame shows several males coming from the outbuilding, and one of the males dressed in black ends up on the front porch of 627 Harris St. He says, 'Oh, no, no.' and the male in red shorts with a dark-colored T-shirt pulls a gun from his gray backpack and fires two shots, causing him to fall over the banister onto the ground." …

That’s my town. It pained me to see a handful of people actually defending this illegal. Athens is very conservative, but illegals have been a huge problem for a long time. We are a farming community and farmers use them in the tobacco fields.
