Vinay Prasad is returning to the Food and Drug Administration to resume his role overseeing vaccine, gene therapy, and blood product regulation.
“At the FDA’s request, Dr. Vinay Prasad is resuming leadership of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research,” Health and Human Services spokesman Andrew Nixon told STAT on Saturday.

I don’t think having the platform is the problem, it’s when the platform is misused…And so many personalities lately have gotten a wee bit too ego driven and prone to going off the deep end. (Candace Owens.) Elon Musk sometimes too. I don’t think he has been treated fairly, but I too wish he were more discerning and calculated about what he posts. (in a noble way, not self-serving or going off emotion.)

Will watch but a reminder: he is not a politician. I don’t mind some hippie-dippie leanings when it comes to health and wellness. Esp one who has that plus a prestigious ‘conventional’ medical degree.
In October 2021, Prasad prompted social media controversy when he published a blog post comparing the U.S. COVID-19 pandemic response to the beginnings of Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich.
In November 2021, Prasad expressed his opinion that pediatricians should warn parents about risks of COVID immunization such as myocarditis.
January 2022, the conservative periodical City Journal published an opinion piece by Prasad in which he attempted to demonstrate that the American public health organizations were not being honest in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic
Prasad was an early member of the Urgency of Normal, a group that in 2022 campaigned against quarantines and mask mandates in schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.
May 20, 2025, Prasad and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary published an article in The New England Journal of Medicine announcing that the FDA would limit COVID-19 vaccines to people over 65 or at high risk of serious illness and would require manufacturers to conduct additional large studies to evaluate their benefits for children and healthy younger adults
