JANESVILLE, Wis. -- The mother of the 15-year-old girl, who killed two and injured six at Abundant Life Christian School on Dec. 16, 2024, was found dead on Aug. 1 in an "apparent suicide," the Janesville Police Department confirmed to News 3 Now.
Melissa Rupnow, who resided at the 1100 block of Matheson Street in Janesville, was found dead last week in what seemed to have "appeared a suicide," according to a Janesville police lieutenant. The lieutenant who confirmed the act could not elaborate because of an ongoing investigation.
According to online court records, Melissa and Jeffrey Rupnow had been divorced.
Melissa's ex-husband, Jeffrey, 43, has been charged with two felony counts of intentionally selling dangerous weapons to a minor and one felony count of contributing to child delinquency. He is scheduled to appear in court in September.
Rupnow's daughter was the shooter who killed teacher Erin West and student Rubi Patricia Vergara and injured six others at ALCS last year before dying by suicide.
A criminal complaint alleges Jeffrey knew about his daughter's mental health struggles but continued to give her weapons.

It appears it/she was a real female. With a major league screwed up family. Looks like this kid’s life was guaranteed crap from the get go. Parents that should have been “fixed” before procreating.

I don’t EVER remember a school shooting back in the days when guns were everywhere and available without paperwork, even through the mails.
I blame it on several things.
The closing of mental hospitals in the 1970s and the removal of the Hays Code for movies in 1969, supposedly to reign in “violence” with a joke of a ratings system. Instead it opened the flood gates and allowed the most perverted films including dozens of “revenge” movies for minor slights. Monkey see what is on the screen, monkey do.
We’ve been flooded with third world trash and their influences.

Most mass shootings (over 90%) happen in gun-free zones, so of course the Party of Compassion wants to turn the whole country into a gun-free zone.

Not this one. Rupnow was born female and identified herself as a girl.
Was Rupnow her only child? If so, I can understand falling into a deep depression afterward.
The mother already overdosed once and survived a few years before the school shooting when Rupnow was 12.
Rupnow’s mother and father divorced and remarried multiple times. Rupnow ended up living with her father from 2022 onward. In her manifesto, she said she hated both her parents.

Nope. She was a 15 year old GIRL. Nutty as a Fruitcake and with a Dad who SOLD her weapons. SOLD THEM TO HER!
Which makes no sense to me - because my Dad always GAVE me guns as presents at Birthdays and Christmastime, and threw in a few more bucks for ammo and range time. ;)
And ya know what? I have not YET shot anyone! However, if I had shot my ex back when he DESERVED it, I’d be out of prison by now. ;)
It appears the mother had a conscience and was capable of feeling shame... sorry her ‘daughter’ and ex didn’t have that capability.
It’s sad but I’ll bet they were all democrats..
