They are fleeing to Illinois, too, one of the most gerrymandered states in the country.

Translation: It’s poetic (chef’s kiss) that Democrats have fled “gerrymandering” to a state already gerrymandered so much that a 40% GOP population gets no representation in Congress.

I guess you're referring to former Massachusetts governor Elbridge Gerry, from whom the term "gerrymander" originated.

As of October 2024, voter registration data shows that 27.05% of registered voters in Illinois are affiliated with the Republican Party, while 34.52% are affiliated with the Democratic Party;

32.35% of voters are unaffiliated, and 6.08% are registered with third parties or other affiliations.
