The artist said that she made the decision after she said she learned that her painting of a transgender Statue of Liberty

be removed to avoid provoking President Trump....
...Ms. Sherald said that Mr. Bunch on Monday had proposed replacing the painting with a video of people reacting to the painting and discussing transgender issues, an idea she rejected because she said it would have included anti-trans views. “When I understood a video would replace the painting, I decided to cancel,” she said. “The video would have opened up for debate the value of trans visibility and I was opposed to that..

She withdrew? Sounds like a win to me. She and her ilk can gth.
Someone should tell Amy that people can’t change their birth sex, that there are only two sexes and we’re born either male or female and we stay that way.
Tough luck, Amy.
This is an abomination, insult and warping of the meaning of the Statue of Liberty - and would have offended the majority of the American public.
Free or not, there would have been a boycott, and they knew it.
Of course, lefties would pile in as many school field trips as they could to show how popular the trans Statue of Liberty is.
Sounds like the culture can take the hit.

Who is Amy Sherald?
As an artist, she should know that once you put it out there, you have no control over its reception. That’s why we cringe at “instant classics.” The artist expresses, the audience reacts. The IDEA of an artist expecting a certain reaction and not others is anathema to art. That’s more like propaganda.

‘Zackly!
IRONY!!!
A transgender Statue of Liberty is naturally going to provoke debate. If she wants to promote her pro-trans views, she should welcome the opportunity to persuade skeptics.
But she’s a pro-censorship individual squawking about censorship being turned on her.
SICK SICK SICK.
BTW, Mr. Bunch is as lib activist as they come. Ever pick up a recent issue of Smithsonian Magazine?
Prez Trump would not be the only on “Provoked”.
Agreed, GTHO.
Who?
Not sick. Just ugly and boring. Just like everything they do.
