The Trump administration is considering changes to the way some H-1B visas are issued.
In a filing to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs on Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security said it was looking at introducing a "weighted selection process" for applicants under the capped part of the system.
Newsweek reached out to DHS for comment via email. Why It Matters
The H-1B visa has come under increasing scrutiny in recent months, as President Donald Trump's supporters, eager for tighter immigration restrictions, have clashed with Tesla and SpaceX billionaire Elon Musk, as well as the president himself, who have backed the program.

I’ve got an idea: How about no methods to issue H-1Bs?
END THE H-1B VISA.
Amen, brother.
Every job stolen is a US worker being shut out of the market.
Charge a company a lot of money to get the visa . Something around 6 figures per visa should do it
Agreed. Shut it down! It’s a bandaid to the problem and counter productive to the goal!
You can’t fix evil. The H-1B visa is EVIL.

It should be policy that as a company fires/furloughs American workers, an immediate cancellation of an equivalent number of their H1B slots must transpire. Within 24 hours, a list of the aliens who will be affected must be forwarded to the State department to facilitate their repatriation.
Another Trump
Trial Balloon mask ramming thru
endless Indian Chinese cheapk labor Invasion .
Trump and his billionaire pals love cheap Visas Labor and screwing the
American workers .
Trump is setting up a
Midterm Fiasco
which will not end pretty for him .
It should just be shut down. We’re shedding junior coding roles by the thousands, and there is less reason than ever to ship in below-market indentured servants for any tech position.
Companies relying on H1B are claiming they cannot find suitably skilled American workers. I’ve supported requiring the pay for these alien experts should the the average wage of 3 highest paid non officers. If a service is urgent the cost is always premium. That’s why when it absolutely has to be there overnight, FedEx charges 100x the cost of USPS, and companies happily pay.
The Biden administration updated the J-1, H-1B, and F-1 visa programs.
The Biden administration made a series of visa program updates aiming to make it easier for U.S. employers to hire and retain foreign STEM workers and students.
The changes affect the J-1, H-1B, and F-1 visa programs
which largely favor Indians.

The H-1B visa cannot be reformed. They will always find a way to circumnavigate any restriction. The only way to “reform” it is to eliminate it.
It’s a BS claim. Just end the program.
Highest salaries first - then we’ll see who really needs these workers.
Ha! At the bank where I worked, everybody was an officer - we were 35% vice presidents or higher.
