Whatever else may be said of it, in Mogadishu it would be considered weird - and kind of pathetic - to make, say, Garrison Keillor the mayor. In that sense, notwithstanding an IQ down at Congressional-approval level, Somalis are smarter than western progressives.

Frey can still run as a DFL’er and trust me, he will.
His campaign is well-organized and he has lots of money - especially from the downtown crowd that doesn’t want a Somali Socialist sitting in the mayor’s office.
The city is heavily DFL but there are are enough Independents, mainstream Democrats and Republicans who, though they don’t like Frey, will not vote for Omar Fateh.
I’d say “brothers of different mothers.” But in the case of Somalis, I believe the expression is, “brothers of different mothers who are married to their brothers.”

I found Steyn’s 2006 bestseller accurate and depressing. Now it’s being fulfilled.
But the right to bear arms should prevent the Islamic takeover. I’m not too confident about Europe.
