Connie Francis, the wholesome pop star of the 1950s and 1960s whose hits include "Pretty Little Baby" and who would later serve as an ironic title for a personal life filled with heartbreak and tragedy, has died at age 87.
Her death was announced Thursday by her friend and publicist, Ron Roberts, who did not immediately provide additional details.
Francis was a top performer of the pre-Beatles era, rarely off the charts from 1957-64. Able to appeal to both young people and adults, she had more than a dozen top 20 hits, starting with "Who's Sorry Now?" and including the No. 1 songs "Don't Break the Heart That Loves You" and "The Heart Has a Mind of Its Own." Like other teen favorites of her time, she also starred in several films, including "Where the Boys Are" and "Follow the Boys."

Seems all of my grandad’s people are passing. It’s like his past is slowly fading away. It’s kinda sad when he sometimes says he’s ready to go.
She was a giant. Beautiful and talented. Suffered horrible tragedy (sad to say first thing I thought of was the rape?.
May she R.I.P.
When the sixties began, she was the top female singer in the country, and maybe even the world, but Beatlemania stopped her career cold. Afterwards, she switched to the Adult Contemporary market and could be heard on stations like KPOL and KFI (way before Rush Limbaugh) in Los Angeles.
wiki-——In late June 2025, Francis revealed she had been experiencing pelvic pain on her right side and was advised that it was due to a fracture. She noted that she would need to rely on her wheelchair longer than anticipated while recovering. She was hospitalized in Florida on July 2 due to a recurrence of extreme pain. She underwent a series of tests and examinations while in intensive care, and was later transferred to a private room. In a Facebook post, she speculated that her symptoms might be related to the fracture.[60] On July 4, she reported feeling much better after a good night. Francis died on July 16, 2025, aged 87, with her death confirmed by longtime friend Ron Roberts the following day.[61]
Pretty Little Baby????
NEVER heard of it. Never HEARD it.
Lipstick On Your Collar
My Happiness
Vacation
Where The Boys Are
and many others.
Pretty Little Baby? Give me a break. I do not remember that song ever even being played on the radio. Certainly NOT a signature song of hers.
There’s a used Indian clothing store in my neighborhood called Whose Sari Now?
Not really
Ft. Lauderdale was described as a “sleepy little town” before her hit; “Where the Boys Are” drew scads and scads of teens there, making Lauderdale famous for spring break. It’s where I lived back then, so there’s kind of a melancholy connection with her for me. (ironic, given the rape, and what it did to her)...
When Connie waxed "Pretty Little Baby" in early 1962, it was released on a long-playing disc, but not as a single, so it wouldn't have gotten much, if any, air play over Top 40 radio stations and would not have fit into juke boxes. It became a recent hit via Tik Tok.
I'm a Connie Francis fan, but since I don't follow Tik Tok, I had also never heard that song until about 15 minutes ago, when I looked it up on Youtube.
You know, Mandela Effect or something, but I thought she had already passed. Beautiful lady and beautiful voice. May she RIP.
My Grandparents lived there in the 50's and 60's and 70's. We would visit beginning in the mid 60's - the rapid development changed the landscape in just a few decades.
In November, 1961, I was in Bern, Switzerland, and “Where the Boys Are” was playing at a local movie theater. I first saw it when it came to TV.
Pretty Little Baby????
NEVER heard of it. Never HEARD it.
...
Apparently it is/was a recent Tik Tok viral trend
So you may never heard it, but in a remarkable twist, maybe your youngest relatives have.
RIP to Connie but…that is hilarious
Why it’s a signature song of hers NOW is explained in the article.
slang
The language is being destroyed.
Elvis Presley’s movie “Girl Happy” was also set in Fort Lauderdale, and that probably contributed to its appeal as a spring break mecca.
