Anthony Bernal, who served as the chief of staff for former first lady Jill Biden, refused to answer questions regarding an alleged cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
Bernal, who has been nicknamed Jill Biden’s “work husband,” pleaded the Fifth during a “closed-door testimony” in front of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, according to the Hill.
Per the outlet, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) revealed that Bernal had “pleaded the Fifth” when asked whether the former president had “ever instructed him to lie about his health” or if “any unelected official or family members executed the duties of the president.”
“Anthony Bernal — Jill Biden’s Chief of Staff — just invoked the Fifth Amendment during his congressional deposition,” Comer wrote in a post on X. “This week new reporting confirms President Biden’s aides took unauthorized executive actions during his presidency amid his cognitive decline.”
Comer added that it was “no surprise” that Bernal had invoked the Fifth Amendment “to shield himself from criminal liability.”
“During his deposition today, Mr. Bernal pleaded the Fifth when asked if any unelected official or family members executed the duties of the President and if Joe Biden ever instructed him to lie about his health,”

Indeed it’s the Biden clan no need to ask.
I am sure he did. But he wasn't going to tell the committee his patient had a skull full of mush and was asked to lie about it by WH staff.
Ahh yes, I remember the ridiculous boob belt look and too-short shrug sweaters.
Not a lawyer, but here’s my guess. If he should say anything to Congress that could later be found to be untrue he’s liable to be charged with perjury. By pleading the fifth, he takes away that possibility.
They’re all a bunch of lawyers and should know the basics in setting up witnesses to tell the truth or set them up for a perjury trap.
The fact is most of them would have never made it as Lawyers of any repute.
That goes for both sides of the aisle...

Jill Biden had two styles that stood out to me.
Low rent street walker and Contemporary Living Room Upholstery.
I agree that “Dr.” Jill outpaced 0bama in fashion disaster.
Some might disagree with this but I also think Jill Biden is a far worse human being than the Mooch.
No disagreement here.
In fact, out of the last three Democrat First Ladies, Michelle is the best. Now, I disliked here attitude toward America. But, for the most, part, she did nothing. Which is ALWAYS preferable.
Hillary was the worst. Possibly ever.
Jill should be jailed for elder abuse. She aided and abetted the sustained propping up of an effectively demented and senile angry old man. I’m still surprised she let Joe exit the race.
Perhaps Joe had one last blast of angry self-determination.
