TABYEH< West Bank--Christian leaders accuse Israeli settlers on Monday (July 14) on attacking sacred sites in the West Bank, in violence that one said was forcing some to consider quitting the occupied territory.
The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theopolis III-visiting the Christian town of Tabyeh with other Jerusalem -based clerics-said settlers had started a fire near a cemetery and a 5th century church there last week.
"These actions are a direct and intentional threat to our local community...but also to the historic and religious heritage," the patriarch told diplomats and journalists at a press conference in Tabyeh.
Settlers had also attacked homes in the area, he said...

Emotions are high in Israel and sometimes this leads to incidents like these Christian clerics are protesting.
Also reported at Times of Israel.
And most of the stories about the cruel settlers are pallywood garbage
The reporting on this incident is so far both quite concerning, and completely one sided.
If the reporting of the one side is true, then Israel needs to get busy and prosecute some settlers. If the situation is vastly more complex (as much in Israel seems to be), then I’d like to hear the other side of the story.
Jews and Israel don’t need to go around buying more enemies. Christians in Israel in my experience are well treated.
For example, the #1 most motivated guy I met in 7 weeks in the IDF was Najib, a Palestinian Christian dude, who was totally on fire. When I asked why he was so motivated, he said, “There is no better place for an Arab Christian to raise a family than Israel.”
Israel owes it to people like Najib to make sure that stays true.
“And most of the stories about the cruel settlers are pallywood garbage”
Usually there’s a lot more to these stories. In this case, the Christians are living under Palestinian* rule in the town of Tabyeh, so the Christians have to be very careful regarding how they behave, lest they anger their Palestinian masters. So that often means siding with the Palestinians against Israel, or at least appearing to do such.
*technically the Christians living in the ‘occupied territories’ are also Palestinians, but since they blow stuff up, nearly all references to Palestinians mean the Muslim Palestinians.
Are the “settlers” kin of Arron? Most of Israel seem to be liberal pacifist.
Easy to get angry wow I’ve said it before I’ll say it again Israel founded by traumatized people.
The Holocaust was brutal industrial scale snuff porn and torture.
All the conflict since Israel’s founding new trauma for new generations.
Many people displaced by this tribal warfare including Christians in the region.
The Nationalists in Israel heck I support Jewish sovereignty in Judea and Samaria but watch out when it comes to using violence.
If it’s someone coming at you with a weapon kill them but why visit people’s homes to burn them.
“Settlers” are those Jews who believe Judea and Samaria are Jewish land today like in the Old Testament.
I agree with that part but acts of violence not in self-defense go too far.
I have a friend who is a Christian missionary there who says the settlers are as determined to drive Christians out of the West Bank as Muslims were to drive them out of Syria and Iraq.
I believe they would kill Christ again today since they still don’t believe he was sent as savior, even though the old testament confirms the savior was coming. Hard to fathom. So easy to brainwash I guess.
Regards,
Tabyeh is an almost entirely Christian town. Apparently the settlers don’t want Christians living in Israel either.
Priest warns: Christian town in Holy Land no longer safe amid settler attacks

“Tabyeh is an almost entirely Christian town. Apparently the settlers don’t want Christians living in Israel either.”
It may be Christian, but it’s under PALESTINIAN rule, it is not under Israeli rule.
So because it’s under Palestinian rule that makes it ok for the settlers to attack them? Are all Palestinians the same to you whether Christian or Muslim? Do you believe that Christian Palestinians should be expelled from the West Bank?
The majority of Israelis do not support this and the Israeli government protects the Christians from the settlers.
However, these acts have happened well before the Hamas attacks.
It is true and verified byany sources within israel.
And the Israeli government is prosecuting the settlers who are egregious.
But the attacks still carry on
Oh and yes, Christians in Israel are treated better than in any other country within the region.
But the thing is that I hold israel to a higher standard than I hold, say, Jordan. Because Israel is a modern, civilized state, filled with modern, cultured, civilized people.
Thanks for your stupid 2¢ worth of wisdom.
Settlers tend to be ultra-Orthodox Jews, armed with Uzis. Nothing liberal or pacifist about them.
