WASHINGTON, D. C. - U.S. Rep. Michael Rulli wants to mark the yearly anniversary of the day an assassin tried to shoot President Trump as a national “Faith and Defiance Day.”
The Salem, Ohio, Republican announced Friday that he’s introduced a resolution to designate the yearly anniversary of the 2024 attempt on Trump’s life on July 13 as “Faith and Defiance Day” to honor Trump, and those who were killed and injured at the political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Rulli says he was inspired when Trump stood up after a bullet grazed his ear, with his fist raised, “telling us all to ‘fight, fight, fight!’”
“That is the American spirit – faithful, defiant, and unstoppable,“ said a statement from Rulli. ”You see one or two events in your life that inspire you to be more than you are, that strike you to your core. This was one of them. God saved the President that day, and that’s something worth recognizing for the rest of time.”
Rulli’s resolution urges the House of Representatives to:
Designate a national “Faith and Defiance Day” so every generation remembers the day America refused to be cowed by political violence. Honor Corey D. Comperatore, a firefighter killed by the gunfire. Salute the grit and courage of bystanders James Copenhaver and David Dutch, who were wounded yet unnerved. Praise the fearless actions of Secret Service agents, law enforcement, first responders, and patriotic citizens who sprang into action to save lives. Condemn political violence in every form, no matter who it targets or who commits it. Acknowledge the enormous impact President Donald J. Trump’s leadership has had on this nation, as he continues to fight for America with faith and defiance, no matter the cost. His action comes as the Secret Service announced it suspended six agents without pay over security failures that let 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks open fire on the rally from a nearby rooftop. Crooks was fatally shot by law enforcement.
“As we come upon the one-year anniversary of this pivotal moment in American history, I believe it is more than appropriate to honor this day by highlighting two of America’s most defining characteristics: faith in God and defiance against evil in all its forms,” said Rulli.
For Those who have an ear to Hear !
No thanks
The headline terribly deceiving.
Let’s balance the budget instead.
Dumb idea. Go do some work, Congressperson.
It will be misused by many, bad idea.
I’ll take every holiday they offer us. And no more chintzy holidays like MLK day. They consolidated Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays into “president’s day” and then gave us MLK day.
Same number of holidays. Total rip off...
AFTER Mt. Rushmore.

NY Post July 14, 2024.
Shameless lefties on social media came under fire for celebrating the assassination attempt on Donald Trump – with some even lamenting that the shooter missed and that it was “close to being the best day ever.”
“We were a second away, we were a centimeter away from half of the problem being gone and you missed!” the poster – who appeared to be driving while recording – cried into the camera.
“There was a white man attached to that trigger, I know it! We were a centimeter away!” they added.
A TikTok user also shared a compilation of other TikTokkers celebrating – and joking about – the shooting, which also critically wounded two other bystanders.
In one video, the poster held up a candle and sarcastically tried to summon the spirit of John Wilkes Booth, the actor who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln in 1865.
“John Wilkes Booth, if you are with us, please, please…” the person said before trailing off and snickering.
“We’re not even sending our best to f–ing assassinate,” another video claimed.
If the same thing happened to a Dem candidate, there’d have already been a holiday, a commemorative coin, etc, etc.
Incitement to commit a crime is itself a crime—especially when committed by someone in a position of power, whose words are likely to provoke an imminent unlawful action.
Eggplant day
An assassination attempt (nor a successful assassination) is not an event worth making a holiday.
They consolidated Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays into “president’s day”
Once they get that guaranteed minimum income going I want every day to be a holiday.
Uh...no. There are too many federal holidays already.
“Juneteenth” is a joke as is MLK day. The others are probably okay. Maybe there should be an unpaid “Miscellaneous and Sundry Holiday” where everything else gets celebrated. Examples of things to celebrate:
Conservative, straight, Christian, white men
Conservative, straight, Christian, white women
Electrical engineers who attended the University of Washington and graduated in 1982
Servers in restaurants who start their shifts at or before 6:00 a.m.
Football players who never got arrested for doing drugs or alcohol during their college and/or NFL careers
Straight WNBA players
Hockey players (at all levels) who never got their front teeth knocked out
Hockey players (at all levels) who actually got their front teeth knocked out
Hockey players (at all levels) who never knocked out someone else’s front teeth
Hockey players (at all levels) who actually knocked out someone else’s front teeth
Just a few ideas! There are probably many more that folks here think are worthy of celebrating.
Not fully thought out.
Both are stupid AF ideas.
How about GOP vacation month? For 10 months 3 weeks of each month is GOP vacation month...
