It Begins: Newsom Allocates $101 Million for Low-Income Housing in Fire Zones
Breitbart ^ | 07.09.2025 | JOEL B. POLLAK

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced Tuesday that he had allocated $101 million in new spending on low-income housing in the areas devastated by the Palisades and Eaton Fires, confirming residents’ fears.

Residents have long worried that state and local authorities would use the opportunity provided by the fires to build low-income housing — perhaps even for the homeless population, or for housing for illegal migrants.

When Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass appointed Steve Soboroff as “chief recovery officer,” without any kind of public process, some residents suspected that Soboroff’s role would be to push for “affordable” housing.

Many residents felt that there was already “affordable” housing in the area, whether the trailer park near Pacific Coast Highway, or postwar bungalows that had once been cheap before rising dramatically in value.

Local developer Rick Caruso — who ran against Bass in 2022 — argued that Pacific Palisades should retain its pre-fire character, while Soboroff argued that state law required new low-income housing to be built there.

It is almost like the fires were planned to facilitate this.

Was there, at least on FR, any iota of doubt that the CA ruling communists would go full Bolshevik after this intentionally-caused fire disaster...

The hint lay in the fact that the fire disaster of a few years ago is still unremediated...

The people from the fire disaster zones need to re-examine their consistent voting for the communists who caused them and are now coming out of the closet with their long-term plans...

I think it is wrong if you believe in property rights.

Worse than wildfires: low-income gov’t housing projects.

Neighborhoods can be rebuilt from fires.

Neighborhoods are permanently lost to gov’t housing projects.

How I hate the Left with their Newsome’s and Democrats.

We all need to understand that a dotted line on a map is not going to isolate this kind of government abuse to a city, town, or state. These people who support this kind of thing are a cancer, and are serious about killing the host, the United States.

I can’t laugh at it, because it is a harbinger of what is in store for all of us if we don’t find a way to relegate these evil sub-humans to the dust bin of history.

So Newsome wants low income people to die in a fiery maze of densely packed low income housing? Those democrats, always looking out for the poor.

Personal property rights out the door. It’s a Marxist thing.

All construction will be cement blocks and pavement with no vegetation to catch fire when the inevitable happens again. It will complete the transformation of what was one of the loveliest neighborhoods in America into Soviet-grade ugliness and desolation, but hey, Bass and Newsom won’t have to live there. And the new residents will reliably vote Democrat, an added bonus for the rulers who will get no pushback from the kulaks they’ve dispossessed.
