Most Canadian citizens consider the United States the "greatest threat" to their country, according to a survey published Tuesday by the Pew Research Center.
Among Canadians, 59% said that the U.S. was the nation's greatest threat, as President Donald Trump continues to suggest that Canada should become the 51st American state.
Israelis are especially likely to name the U.S. as their country's most important ally, with 95% saying so in the survey...
• South Korea is second on the list where its citizens consider the U.S. its most important ally at 89%...

Depends how you define “tried” and “Canada”
1763 was a success—but arguably not an invasion of Canada but an invasion that created Canada.
The attempts during the Revolution and 1812 were ultimately repulsed.
There are a number of other minor incidents that can be debated
