A 'devastating and deadly' flood in central Texas swept a suspected summer camp cabin down the Guadalupe River while people were still inside.
Terrified occupants yelled out 'oh my god' and screamed in horror as the property was floating down the rushing river somewhere between the towns of Kerrville and Comfort.
The Guadalupe River rapidly rose by more than 22 feet overnight, broke its banks and overtook several small, rural towns across Kerr County.
At least six people are dead and there's a frenzied search for those missing as torrential rains bombard the region.
The raging floods have swept away homes, entire RV parks and cars across the region, which was pummeled with one-third of a year's worth of rain over the course of just a few short hours.
Search teams are continuing to conduct boat rescues as fast-moving water threatens riverfront communities and children's summer camps.

“I wonder what God thinks of their evil comments?”
Probably the same thing He thinks when some posters on here make similar comments every time there’s an earthquake or comparable disaster in California or some other blue state.
Camp Mystic is a former rehab site for WWII vets.
Am seeing online reports that all the children are accounted for so hoping that’s true 🙏🙏
I sure hope so. I’ve been thinking about these children, and those at this camp. Stephen K. Bannon was talking about this on his program today. God bless everybody involved. I hope they’re safe.
Do you have a link for that?
I’m still seeing that the children are unaccounted for in the latest reports.
Hope they’re safe...
Death toll now at least 24
Many still missing
From NBC News 40 minutes ago:
“Dan Patrick, the lieutenant governor of Texas, said that ‘20-some’ girls attending Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, remained unaccounted for, later estimating the figure was “about 23.’
Patrick said that even though around 20 children were unaccounted for, ‘that does not mean they’ve been lost.’”
That’s kinda cool.
But had it ever washed out, since then?
Was this the “Hundred Year Flood” everyone who builds near rivers and streams wants to believe “will never happen here”...?
USGS JUST about a decade ago wrapped up redoing Flood Maps nationwide. Mortgage companies have refused loans to property in flood zones. Insurance companies have been torrid in capturing elevated premiums. If you want to show that your property really isn’t under threat, the bar is pretty high.
It seems like a chain of failures led up to this.
It was on X that supposedly all the kids were save but yeah its unconfirmed..just praying and hoping for the best
Thanks - was so hoping they’d all be rescued.

Yeah maybe that earlier report was wrong..damn..just horrible I cant even imagine
Just ruined my day - and here my family is safe, happy, eating hotdogs, kids running around playing and laughing - and we’re about to watch the fireworks.
Any of those girls could have been my granddaughters. I’m absolutely heartbroken by this, for the innocent little girls and their families.
Will put this into the prayer request at church tomorrow. I’m crying about this right now...
Those poor kids..and I just dont understand how they knew rain was coming, yeah I get it, there is a difference between a little rain and a BIG rain, but how did anyone not see this coming, no one should have been there this was preventable
I saw the article also on Farcebook I think. However it was another camp which was not associated with Mystic. They reported that at that specific camp were OK and accounted for. My guess is they were at a higher elevation.
Yeah apparently there were 700 kids from different camps everyone got out except this one camp where those kids are unaccounted for I just can’t imagine the hell those families are going through
24 girls missing. The heartbreak and grief of the families, prayers. CBS Austin said they didn’t get a notification. Some man, sheriff or some such, said no warning went out because that would cause traffic problems. SERIOUSLY???
This is a tragedy beyond words!!!
