Tehran has long cultivated the image of a nation unwilling to bend to foreign pressure. From Ayatollah Khomeini’s rejection of the West in 1979 to today’s battles over nuclear sovereignty, the Islamic Republic has projected an unyielding front. Even now, it promptly violated a ceasefire with Israel. Yet, behind this posture, events of the past 72 hours tell a starkly different story.
On June 23rd, Iran fired a volley of missiles toward Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar—America’s largest military installation in the Middle East. Nearly every missile was shot down. The U.S. had been warned of the attack in advance. And shortly afterward, a mutual ceasefire was declared. Far from being a show of strength, this final strike marked something else: the quiet but unmistakable surrender of Iran’s regime to mounting military and economic pressure.
A Symbolic Strike, Not a Real One
The Doha strike was framed by Iranian state media as a retaliatory masterstroke—Operation Blessings of Victory. In reality, it was a final spasm of posturing. Qatar, the intermediary between Washington and Tehran, had received advance warning. American defenses had ample time to respond. Most projectiles never reached their targets.
President Trump confirmed these facts himself on Truth Social: “Iran has officially responded… with a very weak response, which we expected… I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice.” He announced a full ceasefire soon after, declaring that both sides would wind down over 24 hours, after which the war would be considered over.
It was not just a rhetorical victory—it was a strategic one.
Crushed Capabilities: Tehran Under Siege
By mid-June, relentless U.S. and Israeli airstrikes had carved a devastating path through Iran’s military heartland—targeting critical missile depots, drone production facilities, and key command centers nestled inside Tehran and its outskirts. Satellite imagery confirmed the near-total destruction of...

One good point I heard today.
We say “oh, dear, how can the downtrodden Iranian moderates overcome being under the Mullahs since 1979 and watched by secret police?”
He said in 1979 the people quickly overthrew a form of government in place for 53 years when they kicked out the Shah. Within a week’s time.
Greenland. Panama Canal. The Gulf of America.
Could Iran be on the Trump goal list next?
Keep in mind that the referendum to establish the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 was 98% of Iranians voting. Two generations removed from that, it’s all that they’ve been taught by their parents and grandparents. I don’t see it ever changing.
Shocking to me that the common Iranians are brainwashed in schools by daily 10-15 minutes of shouting death to Israel, death to America and death to infidels. Saw that described on a news show yesterday. That is hard to overcome.
A Chinese citizen Christian here as a college student said to me 5 years ago that her country does not today continue with the brainwashing anti Americanism I described from news features I saw since the 1960s. She said they had stopped that daily propaganda.
She said that but don’t actually believe her.
Iran effectively tactically surrenders to the United States.
If the people don’t rise against these monsters then the monsters will be back.
The Stasi in East Germany lasted 40 years. Nobody ever dreamed they were circling the drain.
The only “effective surrender” would be to Trump, who is term limited.
They are no different than they were in 79. Their 46 year war w/the non-Shia world has only hit the pause button.
Use of the word "effectively" seems way out of place.
Does Iran view it as a surrender or just a timeout? Has it agreed to give up its religion, you know, the one that clamors for death to the great satan?
In any event, knowing what we have learned about President Trump in the past several years, I think he is proceeding very carefully and has skillfully littered this new, modern battlefield with mousetraps.
The surrender is only temporary.
All they have do is wait out one or two presidential elections.
Yep. I bet they’re not above groveling for time to damage assess their ability to retain control of the country.
Even damage assess whether they can restart their nuclear program at all, which I seriously doubt they have even started yet.
It’s only a success if the mullahs are at room temperature. Otherwise this is hudna which means reloading.
Trump’s strategic timing is superb. Savor these days. Trump is a genius.
If so, Trump is part of a noble lineage:
Pausanias, 479 B.C.
Alexander the Great, 330 B.C.
Heraclius, A.D. 628
Trump, A.D. 2025
I don't know that it was "the people" that did that. They were fairly Westernized including rock music and mini-skirts...If so, it probably wasn't long before they had serious buyers remorse.
Pretty sure the "people" the Shaw was oppressing were the wild-eyed, maniacal murdering muzzards who then rushed in to fill the vacuum.
Thanks a lot Jimmuh Cotta.
If it was going to change, while the bombs were still targeting leadership was the time to move.
Agreed.
If what’s next comes to be, let them be glass.
HA! Thanks for sharing the BBee with us!
The ordinary Iranians hate the theocratic regime.
Less than 40% of Iranians consider themselves Mohammedans. Mosque attendance is so low, two thirds of mosques in Tehran have shut down,
