DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran said its missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar matched the number of bombs dropped by the United States on Iranian nuclear sites this weekend, signaling Iran’s likely desire to deescalate.
Iran made the announcement Monday night in a statement from its Supreme National Security Council after the attack, which Qatar said caused no injuries.
Iran also said it targeted the base because it was outside of populated areas.
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran launched missile attacks Monday on a U.S. military bases in Qatar and Iraq, retaliating for the American bombing of its nuclear sites and escalating tensions in the volatile region.
People in Doha, Qatar’s capital, stopped and looked up as missiles flew and interceptors fired and struck at least one missile in the night sky.
Iran announced on state television that it attacked American forces stationed at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base.
A caption on screen called it “a mighty and successful response” to “Am
Iran also targeted the Ain al-Assad base housing U.S. troops in western Iraq, an Iraqi security official told The Associated Press. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.
The attacks came shortly after Qatar closed its airspace as a precaution amid threats from Iran.
Just before the explosions, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on the social platform X: “We neither initiated the war nor seeking it. But we will not leave invasion to the great Iran without answer.”
In the past, Iran has threatened American forces at Al Udeid Air Base, which hosts the forward headquarters of the U.S. military’s Central Command. Qatar, across the Persian Gulf from Iran, maintains diplomatic relations with Iran and shares a massive offshore natural gas field with...

Wonder how the AP came to THAT assumption? OK...you hurled 10 bombs at us, now we send back 10 at you...let’s call the whole thing off? Seems stupid...but again...it’s AP.
you mean the 6 dropped on Fordow?
“you mean the 6 dropped on Fordow?”
Twelve
Thats what happened in 2020
So we blew up some empty nuclear sites in Iran and they retaliated by lobbing some missiles at our evacuated military bases. Seems more like theatrics than actual military moves that accomplish anything of military significance.
“Iran said its missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar matched the number of bombs dropped by the United States on Iranian nuclear sites this weekend,”
Percent of U.S. bombs on target: 100%
Number of Iranian missiles on target: 0%
If this is truly a face saving measure, and their missiles didn’t cause any real harm (their press can say what they want for internal consumption), maybe we hold up and see if the conflict reverts back to Iran/Israel and Trump can again see about trying to negotiate an end.
My first thought would be to whack them hard, but again if this is a limited reprisal that militarily doesn’t do anything more than blow up some sand, maybe we keep our powder dry.
Iran doesn’t have much of any air defense capability left, so they couldn’t stop anything if we wanted to hit them again.
Nope, those weren’t empty. Iran is trying to go small.
“So we blew up some empty nuclear sites in Iran”
They weren’t empty. Your head is, though.
But they likely hit some civilian sites... Like they typically do.
I have no doubt that Iran desires to de-escalate. They have been severely degraded. Now, the people need to seize their destiny, and replace their regime in their crippled state.
What a year 2025 headline. IOW Iran’s missile attack was “mostly peaceful”
“But they likely hit some civilian sites... Like they typically do.”
No hits reported
Total BS . They sent a lot more that 6 missiles and all but a few were shot down.
So where’s the enriched uranium at? There’s also no evidence that any centrifuges were destroyed. So we’re back at square one with Iran with nothing accomplished.
The sites hit in Iran were not “empty. Facilities with thousands of enrichment centrifuges and so on are definitely not empty.
The IDF strike right now on Tehran is not mostly peaceful.
Here’s my question.
Isn’t the Israeli AF flying sorties over Iran when these missiles are launched? If so, they should be able to extinguish those launchers soon after missile launch.
