Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan "Razin" Caine held a press conference from the Pentagon early Sunday morning to relay details on the U.S. military's successful strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
...
Caine addressed the media and explained the strikes, dubbed "Operation Midnight Hammer," included the use of submarines, dozens of Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles, and the "longest B-2 spirit bomber mission since 2001."
"At approximately 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time last night and just prior to the strike package entering Iran, a U.S. submarine in the Central Command area of responsibility launched more than two dozen Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles against key surface infrastructure targets as often as the Operation Midnight Hammer strike package entered Iranian airspace," Caine said. "The U.S. employed several deception tactics."
...
Five to six bunker-buster bombs struck the Fordow nuclear site, Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity shortly after announcing the Saturday night strikes. ..."Those six B-2 bombers that were heading west toward Guam, they would not have made it to Iran in time to take part in this strike," she said while speaking with Fox News' Bret Baier Saturday evening. "So, that suggests to me that there was an additional B-1 package that perhaps flew eastward from Whiteman Air Force Base. Again, this was all part of the deception. There was a great deal of sort of misleading tidbits put out there to suggest that maybe President Trump had put off the decision and that this would happen two weeks from now."

Lots of hyperbole but not much real damage assessment.
Why would you use the stealthy and nearly-invisible B2 bombers as decoys and use the highly visible, completely non-stealthy B-52s to make the actual bomb runs? Seems odd. Had we the Israelis so blinded Iran that we didn’t Ave any fear of the B52s being seen?
Here's an update in Reuters that might include more information:
US bombing of Iran started with a fake-outThe B-2 bombers dropped 14 bunker-busting GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, each weighing 30,000 pounds. The operation involved over 125 U.S. military aircraft, according to the Pentagon....
From the U.S. military's perspective, the operation was a resounding tactical success. The Iranians were unable to get off a single round at the American aircraft and were caught completely flat-footed, General Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters at the Pentagon on Sunday.
2 Billions vs 52 millions planes... and thus, it’s only iran, so b-52 is good enough.
heck, some of you knows my favorite plane is A-10, but there are time and places for it.
Do you have a source for the use of B-52s? I haven’t seen that
Pavlich’s analysis is not correct. SecDef and JCS explained the mission that CIC approved. I believe the facilities are severely destroyed. The Democrats and some Republicans are sad about this.
125 planes....undetected....unbelievable.
“The B-2 bombers dropped 14 bunker-busting GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, each weighing 30,000 pounds.”
You drop 15 tons
and what do you get?
A bunch of Shia nuke techs
deeper in death.
As I watched this I realized that our military has the coolest war toys ever made. I’m glad we got to use them. I would rather have my tax dollars spent on this kind of stuff than on Medicaid ER visits for illegals and meth heads!
Don’t gloat.
I wondering that myself. I read the entire linked FOX News article, even did a word search, no mention of B-52.
100% agree. It was a great use of awesome precision power.
... Newsflash WWII, Japanese media report there are only 200 of the american enemy left alive ....
Hunh? Where do you get 125 planes?
“At approximately 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time last night and just prior to the strike package entering Iran, a U.S. submarine in the Central Command area of responsibility launched more than two dozen Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles against key surface infrastructure targets as often as the Operation Midnight Hammer strike package entered Iranian airspace,” Caine said. “The U.S. employed several deception tactics.”
I stand corrected. In a newer post, 125 aircraft were part of the operation. How many actually struck Iran, who knows. My guess is the B2s.
It’s been said 100 times already...and I believe the President was the first to say it at the podium.
You may be confused.
Like
“You may be confused.”
That’s a common affliction with me. I thought I read somewhere that B-52s delivered the bunker busters. I can’t find that anywhere, though.
Confused? Poor comprehension? Something like that.
