Vice President JD Vance warned Democrat governors that if they allow rioters to “burn great American cities to the ground,” the Trump administration would “send federal law enforcement in to protect the people.”
While speaking from Los Angeles, Vance explained that the “good news” was that the rioting in Los Angeles had “gotten a lot better.” Vance added that he had “heard from everybody” that the soldiers and U.S. Marines who had been deployed to quell the violence of the Los Angeles riots were “still very much a necessary part” of what was happening.
Vance also criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for having “actively encouraged illegal migration,” and accused them of having “strained” law enforcement and public services in the community.
When asked about his reaction to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruling that President Donald Trump was allowed to federalize the California National Guard, Vance explained that the Ninth Circuit basically said that federalizing of the National Guard “was a completely legitimate and proper use of federal law enforcement.”
“The President has a very simple proposal, to everybody and every city, every community, every town — whether big or small, if you enforce your own laws, and if you protect federal law enforcement, we’re not going to send in the National Guard because it’s unnecessary,” Vance explained. “But, if you let violent rioters burn great American cities to the ground, then of course we’re going to send federal law enforcement in to protect the people the president was elected to protect.”

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union...on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.US Const., Art. VI, Sec. 4.
Not that they are looking at this, but SHOULD BE - this is a rare instance of constitutional support for federal interference with a state's affairs.
It may have been more than a handful, but it was still far less than the 2,500 communities nationwide with an estimated 5,000,000 people who peacefully demonstrated a few days ago to express their concern for a government that does not seem to respect the US basis of 3 co-equal branches as the key to preserving a democratic state.
The number also depends on the event(s) you would specifically be referring to. The MLK murder was widespread and heavy. I know, I was there bringing boards, nails, and water buckets to my front windows in case rocks were thrown. I also filled the bathtub, and packed some valuables in case we had to leave. Thieves were running down my street with boxes of liquor on their heads stolen from the store around the corner. Meanwhile I was worrying about the absence of my husband. It turned out he had been driving a friend around to pick up his girl from work in a stressed area of the city. He had seen combat and came in very upset. I could see smoke rising from a row of streets 4 blocks from our home. The army was called in and the people, majority black residents, did not object then, nor did the government.
However, here, the Constitution seems to support this federal action.

That would be Article IV, not Article VI.
or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
Your citation is a stretch. The State Legislatures can be convened and are in session.
I reject your “peaceful” protests assertion, saying it less than X does not somehow make it better or justified
I too am protesting the usurpation of the the judicial branch over the executive branch. This country does not need 700 unelected “presidents”
Anyway this article written by libs, targeting lib with the reason to use others disasters to move higher. This is for those who like the minutiae of politics….

I read this to mean the U.S. legislature or executive branch, but you may be right in keeping with constitutional state sovereignty.
If you are right, then Trump constitutionally must apply to the CA legislature (forget about Newsome) to bring in troops, and that would be a good thing.
So Vance’s statements of federal intent should not be rejected out of hand as unconstitutional, but with this caveat.
It would be nice if this constitutional issue was actually being reviewed.
I didn’t think that at all, brother.
Just a different opinion, thats all, in a Discussion forum that respects all.
I think these city leaders and citizens know it is the working, taxpaying immigrants that they won’t let the ICE kidnappers run off with. I have lived in urban and close in suburban areas for 60 years. When I need to have renovatation work done on my property, I am far more likely to find a Latino who can do the work at a reasonable price than any other group.
Here in the US, we have been fooled by the story that we need to make sure that all our children get college educations. When I was a teenager 70 years ago, our school had a 4 track program—college prep, college science prep, Secretarial/clerical, and trades. Since a lot of the trades were unionized it was difficult for minorities to get into aprenticeships.
Two worker families worked to send their children to college, even thought that might not have been the best course for them. My husband and I were both college grads, but we came to the conclusion our 2 sons might do better with a different course, especially since neither had a determined interest that required college, like medicine, teacher, engineering, architecture and the like. One son was very physically active, spent 3 high school years in ROTC and Ranger ROTC. He decided to enlist as a PFC, and recently retired after over 25 years in 82nd Airborne and Special Forces. My other son was dyslexic and had little interest in academic pursuits. I had him help me with carpentry and painting, he subsequently worked in the parts repair area of an avionics company, and after taking a certifying electricians course, has had his own electrical services company for a number of years. He also does general repairs on vacation property and has had contracts to maintain large condos and built a small team of multiple skills to handle such contracts. His greatest assets were having a winning personality and learning Spanish with his excellent memory skills.
Because it had become so important to “let no child be left behind”, we have several decades where middle aged craftsmen and trades workers are retiring and there are few in the pipeline to continue their labor. In my areas of operation renovating property, I have found it is often easier to find a moderately skilled Latino (frequently an immigrant) to do general repairs, or some with special skills, like stone workat at reasonable prices. If I had a large complex project to do I might find a white owned company that would compete, but thanks to decades of educational neglect, I find few black workers I would prefer to hire.
So yes, I think there a lot of places where leaders and citizens know from experience, or instinctively, that we are going to be needing a lot of the immigrants (illegal though they may be) who have already proven they will work and pay taxes over time, and are definitely going to be needed as our middle-aged tradesmen and craftsmen retire. I was shocked to see a figure saying that the taxes paid by illegals are enough to pay for 3/4ths of our recent $800+ billion Defense Budget. Since we have a low unemployment rates, and Trump wants to increase our defense budget, why would we throw out our motivated, nonviolent tax payers?
“leaders and citizens know from experience, or instinctively, that we are going to be needing a lot of the immigrants (illegal though they may be)”
There’s a big different between “NEEDing” and WANTing. They WANT cheap labor, but NEED to respect our laws in order to MAGA. America can’t be great again as long as we keep diluting the country with ingrates who have so little respect for us that they fly other countries’ flags, and refuse to learn English.
Every illegal NEEDs to GTFO.
