Will We Finally See a Persian Renaissance?

Back in 2007 I received a mysterious call at the New York Sun from a man who said he was referred to me from someone at the New York Times. He said he needed to meet with me on an issue too important to speak about on the phone.

The Times reporter had told him that her paper was not the one to cover the story.

Cloak and dagger are not my forte and seemingly against my better judgment, I met with the gentleman who turned out to be an Iranian dissident. He filled me in on what was happening in his native country.

I learned from my new Iranian friend that there was a Persian renaissance in force, which was actively seeking to overthrow the mullahs.

Many Persians, he said, do not consider themselves Muslims and under the tutelage of a Persian professor, they have secretly burned the Koran and returned to their ancient Zoroastrian faith.

My friend, a former Muslim, showed me his pendant with the ancient symbol of this faith which is prominently displayed every year at the annual Persian parade in New York City.

At that event, the display of colorful floats and beautiful women in fashionable garb is a distinct reminder that this cheerful exuberance is sorely absent in today's Iran.

The Persian Renaissance, he said, known as Anjomane Padeshahi Iran, was spearheaded by a charismatic leader, Dr. Froud Fouladvand.

He had offered Iranian the reason to fight by awakening their semi-dormant national identity, an identity that was overshadowed by radical Islam.

They said the same thing about Iraq and Afghanistan. And about the Arab Spring.

Persians are not Muslims. Try and keep up.

Only 30% of Iranians are practicing muslims. Of course if you ask the mullahs its 100%. 😉

We have seen at least two over the last couple of decades.
We didn't lift a finger.
However it is nice that Israel has been given a free hand by Trump.
In the past many ME countries would be lining up to join Iran (Abraham Accords) and the UN would pressure Israel to stop.
That ain't gonna happen this time.
Give them time, and weapons, food support when they need it. The Israeli's and the Iranian people. Be nice to live in a quite neighborhood for a change ;)

On 17 June 2005 he [Dr. Froud Fouladvand] and three other API members were arrested in several raids by armed police, and involving MI5, on suspicion of terrorism.

Perfidious Albion.

There are also many Persian Orthodox Christian Saints, many of whom were martyred by Persian or Greek pagans.

Persian people can thus readily convert to Orthodox Christianity. But they would need qualified missionaries to make that happen!

No ayatollahs, no mullahs, no hijabs, no nukes—just beautiful churches, peace, love, and salvation!

I remember when young and middle-aged Iranians were cool. They weren’t rabidly political, they were materialistic, dressed like western Europeans, and no heads covered. They looked at ease and happy in photos. I’m hopeful they are still the majority and will rebloom.

I agree. As it’s been said and shouldn’t be just a clever slogan:

Make Iran Persia Again

The poor bastards had 46 years of democrat rule. We only have it intermittantly...which is catastrophic enough. Imagine if we had it that long!

Nope. Lotta reasons but here’s a story of around 1979 some college, somewhere.

The religious Persians versus the engineers and farmers. There were spies sending word home who the bad apples were, who was verbal about the shah, who to destroy including abandoning family members especially women educating themselves daring to learn not under the chador.

That’s a whole lot of pressure NOT to make waves. Only a low percentage will fight. Seem to remember a lot of the resistance stuck their heads out during the Obama years and were killed or jailed or forever banished from the religion of peace.

Recent Gateway Pundit excerpt:

“Civilization is quickly breaking down in Iran since Israel started its military attacks on Friday night.

Food vendors are closed in many places, ATMs are without cash, the internet is down (except for Starlink!) and now the TV channels are hacked!

An hour ago, the regime’s infamous propaganda and lies agency, the regime’s infamous Iranian Broadcasting Corporation, was hacked.

After the regime’s normal programs were interrupted, a message was issued to the Iranian nation, calling on Iranians to rise up to overthrow the regime.”

“And then came Carter.”

Ugh, that was awful. Years of national embarrassment. TV news was showing the nutcase Muslims beating on the sand with sticks to show how they would take the USA down.

Oh, how times have changed.

There must be an awful lot of rebuilding and up-cleaning before the Persians can get to renaissing.
