NEW: Poll Finds 60% of Americans, Majority of Republicans Oppose US Involvement in War with Iran

According to a new YouGov poll, conducted June 13 to June 16, a majority of Americans think the United States should not get involved in Israel’s war with Iran, signaling trouble for the midterms if President Trump decides to send troops into the conflict.

50% say they believe Iran is an enemy of the U.S., while only 1% consider Iran an ally.

Still, of the 1,512 survey respondents, only 16% support U.S. involvement in the war, with 60% opposed and 24% are not sure. The opposition to U.S. involvement includes 65% of Democrats, 61% of Independents, and 53% of Republicans.

Only 23% of Republicans and 19% of those who say they voted for Trump say they support U.S. involvement.

Meanwhile, 56% of the 1,511 surveyed, including 58% of Democrats, 51% of independents, and 61% of Republicans, say the U.S. should negotiate with Iran.

63% of Trump voters said that the U.S. should negotiate instead of resorting to war. Only 18% of Trump voters say that the U.S. should not negotiate with Iran.

Trump supporters tend to favor threatening sanctions on Iran (42%) over threatening Iran with military force (30%).

As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump was potentially weighing a strike on Iran during a meeting with his national security team in the Situation Room on Tuesday afternoon.

The meeting came after Trump threatened to take out Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Needless to say, this is another reason not to get directly involved in the war.

Very few will buy doing so is an American First policy.

I think when Obama sent them $800 Billion in the last months of his presidency, we became "involved".

Sheeesh!

I’ll trust President Trump, as I know he does not want war. He wants security for the USA. He’s the one who will make the decision and it will be the correct decision.

I believe the US has an essential interest in ensuring Iran does not get the bomb. They have sworn to destroy us and have been murderously hostile toward us since their revolution.

Do you agree we have that essential interest?

Iran invaded American territory on November 4, 1979.

They have been at war with us whether or not we acknowledge it.

How quickly Americans forget Iran owes a debt for murdering our Marines and embassy personnel in 1983.

The flipping bill is due. Pay up, Ahmed. Out of your flesh.

American agencies are thick in “Indirect Involvement” in things we should be far more “direct” about.

An approximation, but you get the point. If I were Israel or Saudi Arabia, I would have waged war on America before giving that kind of money to Tehran.

Charlie Kirk poll:

“Just in case anyone missed it, this is earth shattering.

Young people r not being duped n2 supporting the foreign policy apparatus anymore, for fear of being called names.

We are anti-globalists, and that doesn’t make us antisemites. Or supporters of Iran. Or haters of Israel.”

90% of almost.500,000 votes say:

No to boots on the ground.

No to any involvement.

Period.

You are a stranger to logic. You have been on the Putin/Russian side for years at FR. Now add Iran to this. The axis of evil.
