BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Eight people have been arrested after a joint investigation by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations, where illegal immigrants were allegedly paying to get fraudulent driver’s licenses.
“About a month ago, we began investigating information that individuals within the Bay County Tax Collector’s Office were issuing fraudulent driver’s licenses to aliens,” said Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford.
Investigators say suspicious driver’s license transactions were occurring at the Bay County Tax Collector’s Office, and two DMV employees were being financially compensated to provide driver’s licenses to those who did not qualify for them.
“Analysis of financial records confirms that the employees were receiving large sums of currency from numerous sources,” Sheriff Ford said.
Investigators say individuals were traveling from across the state, some as far as Miami, to get licenses without taking proper tests.

The two employees arrested, Bancelie Velazco and Demetrius Smith II, are both from Panama City. Velazco has been charged with nine counts of DMV Employee Issue Unlawful DL and nine counts of Official Misconduct. Smith has been charged with eight counts of DMV Employee Issue Unlawful DL and eight counts of Official Misconduct.
Authorities seized $120,000 from the homes of the two arrested.
BCSO investigators say Velazco and Smith were using third parties to act as intermediaries, including individuals and organizations. One of those was CubaMax, located in Callaway. CubaMax is a company that processes immigration documents. According to investigators, CubaMax was acting as a referral source for those trying to get driver’s licenses fraudulently.

No, they aren't Norwegian. There is something tawny and swarthy about those names.
Peepul of Culla ?
In Florida, you don’t have to speak a word of English to still get a drivers license.
And he’s being charged for 8 fraudulent licenses? Math doesn’t add up. Maybe thousands of other charges will be forthcoming.
I recall something about CDL being sold in several states. A few years ago.
Illinois.
I just renewed my DL and the last time I did in person, I got it handed to me on the spot. Now the state ships it to me a couple of weeks later. I asked why and was told that some employees somewhere had a ‘side gig’ which I pretty much figured out was this scam of selling to illegals.
Send these two to El Salvador. They worked to undermine America.
As long as we allow DEIs to control CRITICAL FUNCTIONS of government, we’ll get this.
DEI hires.
What hath “liberalism” wrought?
“Now multiply this over 100s of counties nationwide. We have a lot of drivers on the road with illegally issued driver’s licenses. I wonder how many CDLs were sold?”
You’re right. This goes on more than anybody knows. But they’re going to drive any way. That’s kind of secondary issue. The driver’s license gives them a “legitimate” ID with which to work, get loans, get government benefits, etc.
Look at at the property and bodily damage and harm caused by those who were issued illegal licenses and charge these guys with conspiracy and then send them away for a long long time.
“And he’s being charged for 8 fraudulent licenses?”
Eight people were arrested; we don’t know how many individual licenses were sold fraudulently.
We can rest assured that each of these individuals presented a Real ID license prior to employment by Bay County DMV.
I-Team: George Ryan's journey from governor to prison By ABC7 Wednesday, January 30, 2013 January 30, 2013 (CHICAGO) For 78-year-old Ryan, this is a story that began nearly 20-years ago.
When George Ryan was Illinois Secretary of State in 1994, a truck driver who illegally obtained his commercial license, killed six children in a blazing crash.
"The depth of the pain is indescribable," the victims' father Reverend Scott Willis said.
Four years later, Ryan was running for governor when the ABC7 ITeam revealed that the driver of the truck had bought the license through a scandal of selling commercial drivers licenses in exchange for bribes to employees of the Secretary of State's office.
That’s two Counties East of me............
My point was that he’s probably issued thousands of fraudulent licenses, considering the number of people he “tested” in a month — 11 times the norm. I doubt he’s simply an overachiever working hard for the taxpayers.
In Washington state illegals can get a driver’s license from the DMV. They can’t get the enhanced ID (for airplane travel, etc.). Well, not yet that is...
