Jake Tapper Loses More Ground Due to His Book, and CBS Is in Disarray As Trump Rejects a Settlement

As the ongoing court case with President Trump over the Kamala Harris pre-election interview continues, CBS and parent company Paramount Global are becoming more mired in trauma. This week, the announcement was that in their desire to end the process, and facilitate a pending corporate merger, Paramount was offering a $15 million settlement. Trump has rejected that outright.

He has called for the sum to be $25 million, but that may not be the hitch in getting an agreement, given this is holding up the merger valued at roughly $8 billion. It appears that his demand for full retraction and apology on the air has the news division — and specifically the “60 Minutes” staff — fighting significantly against that demand.

As Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson continue their pimping tour for “Original Sin,” the sales have been decent enough, if not quite at the explosive levels many anticipated. It definitely feels as if much of the book’s content has reflected poorly on Tapper in particular, depressing what were surely strong advanced sales. But more is revealed outside of the bookstores.

For the month of May, Tapper has experienced significant audience flight on his CNN scheduled shows. Through the weekend of May 25, Tapper has seen his ratings dip sharply, at a time when he has been a perpetual presence both on his own network and across the news spectrum. Last month, he saw his audience numbers slide, from an already lowly number, by 25%, the amount of the advertising demographic dropped by 15%, as he he drew barely 10% of the cable news audience.

His average of near 425,000 for the month was the lowest he has experienced in a decade.

So is it $20 billion or nothing. What would a judge do-lower it?

The wicked frequently don’t get what’s coming to them, but it’s very gratifying when they do. Tapper’s so used to hoodwinking the gullible that he thought he could get away with unmasking a conspiracy with the thought no one would notice that he was one of the conspirators

$20 billion what?

The article didn’t say anything about $20 billion.

Trump wanted $25 million and a full, on air apology for what they publicly did which is reasonable.

If you do something wrong against someone publicly, then you should man up and apologize publicly.

Of course they are. It isn't the money, it's the control of the narrative that's the issue. That's worth more to them than any amount of cash.

Trump’s settlement should be “Owner”

If I was Trump, I’d tell them I’d accept a $50 million settlement right now, or I’d accept a $25 million dollar settlement one year from now. “Do ya feel lucky, well do ya punk?”

I think it’s about the on-air apology. Trump says CBS News must admit to the world on prime time TV that they betrayed their image as a neutral news organization to engage as partisans and enablers for the Democratic Party in a Presidential election and apologize for it. The 60 Minutes team are holding their breath and refusing to do it.

They know that once they do, the image of a fair and balanced mainstream press is destroyed forever, for all organizations (because they will always be suspect in the eyes of even the lowest and most ill-informed), by their own admission.

If one reads Tapper’s book in essence he is saying, “yes, we knew about his dementia during the 2016 election and beyond,”

But now comes the hard part, “yes we knew but we really did not know but I know now and I am reporting the truth.”

This is right out of George Orwell’s “1984.” It was called “Double Think.” Double Think was the ability to hold two opposing concepts each of which would have devoid the other concept as true in your mind and actually believe both are true.

His days as a reporter of which he never was IS OVER!

Tapper is simply a liar, a political shill pretending to be a reporter and hired by CNN because they are exactly the same as Tapper. That is why they hired him.

Pretty sure you’re right. Trump will donate the money anyway.

My point is that “time is of the essence” to CBS if they want this merger to go through, and Trump ought to take advantage of that by forcing them them to admit their mistakes and pay up now. They’re under the gun, he isn’t.

He will donate it to his Presidential Library.

Which I’m sure will be “the greatest Library ever.”

Just a note about CNN of old. They were pretty good and much down the center in their reporting. Perhaps slightly left or right depending on the reporter but fair. CNN went politically left and thus left an opening for an upstart new organization called FOX NEWS. CNN’s founder Ted Turner (I hope Jane Fonda was worth it but she was not) said he would crush Fox. He did not. Fox crushed him. He had a perfectly superior position in news media and was fair and supreme many years ago. He went left and destroyed his genius creation which once was CNN.

“ His days as a reporter of which he never was IS OVER!“

That happened long ago. He may think he still has value as a shill/stenographer for DNC.
