Watergate-Style Hearings for the Biden Coverup
Wall Street Journal ^ | May 30, 2025 | Kenneth L. Khachigian

The massive coverup of Joe Biden’s mental decline has stimulated plenty of indignant commentary. Missing from the hand-wringing is a demand for accountability, which brings to mind the quip: “Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.” This newspaper and recently published books have exposed the trickery and lies of Mr. Biden’s minions and Democratic allies, who attempted to wield power in a leaderless vacuum. It was perfectly described in Tunku Varadarajan’s review of Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s book, “Original Sin,” as resembling “a hush-hush leftist capture of an infirm president.”

A White House cadre, with media connivance, hoped to drag their puppet over the electoral line to win four additional years of power, dangerously undermining the institutional integrity of the presidency. Memorial Day has come and gone, and Washington’s elite is already enabling the machinery to which the Democratic left turns in the face of scandal—elevating sideshows such as insupportable claims that Republicans are destroying Medicaid or rants regarding President Trump’s dispute with Harvard, all to make this latest deceit disappear like April’s cherry blossoms.

Republicans will end up rewarding this duplicity if they elevate cheap talk over accountability. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is holding aggressive hearings on the coverup, but they have been too narrowly aimed. Mr. Biden’s using an autopen and Attorney General Merrick Garland’s declining to release the audio of the president’s interview with Robert Hur are small potatoes amid this vast whitewash of history.

If Congress takes seriously that it should act when Americans are cynically hoodwinked, it must begin an investigation into the coverup that matches or exceeds the Senate Watergate Committee hearings.

Key names central to the coverup—often referred to as the “Politburo”—have appeared in books and news articles. They include Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, the campaign manager

Worse than Watergate.

We had a dementia patient as President, with unelected staffers running the auto pen without an elected official’s knowledge.

Kinda Insurrectiony.

I was thinking more along the lines of Waterboarding , that’s what is needed here.

Not at all interested. These hearings accomplish the opposite of what they claim. They exist to whitewash wrongdoing but give the impression of oversight and accountability. None of The Biden Whitehouse will see an ounce of punishment.

Just think about it....all these years - more than we care to even think about - all Biden ever wanted was to polish his image. He at least managed to do that tho’ not in the manner he wanted!

“None of The Biden Whitehouse will see an ounce of punishment”.

I agree and it’s disgusting.

But if this had been a Republican White House, there would be plenty of jail time dished out and it would go to the top of the ladder, not just the lower rungs.

Author Kenneth wrote “Missing from the hand-wringing is a demand for accountability.” It’s safe to say he doesn’t read Free Republic!

“Kinda Insurrectiony.” No kidding. By FAR, this is the biggest coup and insurrection in the nation’s history. I’d add traitorous, too.

Article III, Section 3 requires either levying war against the state or providing “aid and comfort” to its enemies. This demands clear evidence of intent and action, not just negligence or poor judgment. Proving deliberate intent to harm the state, rather than incompetence or differing priorities, is a significant hurdle. Courts typically require explicit evidence of motive.

It’s very hard hill to climb, but the evidence of “clear evidence of intent and action” is abundant and self-evident. Were these bastards “levying war” against the USA? Not in a classical sense, but certainly in an insurrectionary or clandestine sense.

There would be wall-to-wall coverage and primetime hearings on every channel. Thousands would be prosecuted and jailed. Some politicians would be calling for executions.

How appropriate that DC has a road called Gallows Way. Start building boys for 8 at time.

We don’t need hearings.

I was around for the Watergate hearings.

Those were Kabuki theater.

What we need are arrests, trials, and convictions for sedition.

With long sentences served at Leavenworth.

This. The Cabinet had a sworn duty to defend and protect the Constitution. They let it slide. The likes of Garland, Austin, Yellin, and Blinken should bear the brunt of the punishment. Sure, key white house staff and congresscritters were in on the conspiracy, but the cabinet had the Constitutional power to do something about it and they did not. Failure to exercise the discretion of your office is just as punishable as abuse of that discretion.

This is what a Big Fat Lie by MSM looks like:

“This newspaper and recently published books have exposed the trickery and lies of Mr. Biden’s minions and Democratic allies, who attempted to wield power in a leaderless vacuum.”

The Blatant Gaslighting continues by WSJ.

I’m old enough to remember the Watergate hearings, with wall-to-wall coverage on all three major networks.

They of course conferred sainthood on Sen. Sam Ervin (D) for his folksy manner and inane storytelling, along with Rep. Peter Rodino (D) for his unbiased and noble/s efforts to hound Richard Nixon out of office by any means necessary.

If there was any defense presented on behalf of RMN, it was of course ignored by the media, a tradition carried on to the Trump era.

You’re exactly right.

They are already talking of going full force against Elon Musk if they gain control again.

And we know they’ll do the same to President Trump if/when they can.
