Hemingway Presses White House: What Are You Actually Doing To Stop Ongoing Judicial Coup?
The Federalist ^ | May 29, 2025 | Jordan Boyd

Federalist Editor-In-Chief Mollie Hemingway used her opportunity as the new media journalist in Thursday’s White House press briefing to question whether the Trump administration plans to take any action to stop an ongoing effort by lower courts to impede President Donald Trump’s agenda.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt greeted Hemingway by describing The Federalist as providing “fearless journalism and coverage of politics and culture to millions of readers all over the world.” Her response to Hemingway’s question about whether the White House planned to rein in the “rogue lower court judges” keeping President Donald Trump from executing his presidential goals, however, was evasive.

Hemingway kicked off the first question of the briefing by noting that the corporate media and Democrats attempted to stifle the first Trump administration with the Russia collusion hoax.

“The second Trump administration, to reference what you said at the beginning, seems to be subject to an effort to stymie the agenda using rogue lower court judges. You mentioned that the Supreme Court could and should do something to rein in these lower court judges. Also, Congress could do something about it, but they don’t seem terribly interested in it,” Hemingway continued. “It also seems there’s not much of an actual coordinated effort from this White House to take and tackle this effort from judges, Democrats, and other people using these judges to stymie the agenda. Is there an actual effort by this White House to tackle this issue in a comprehensive way, and if so, what is it?”

Leavitt claimed that there “is an effort by this administration to tackle these rogue judges and the injunctions and the blockades that we have faced in our broken judicial system,” but she did not specify what...

Congress should pass a law that only SCOTUS can declare a Presidential action unlawful or unconstitutional. Lower courts can only offer opinions on the way to SCOTUS.

This is the type of question that definitely would not be asked by the MSM reporters. Its a good example of why “alternative” media is needed in the Whitehouse press room. They challenge the administration from a conservative perspective. People may have thought they would simply support Trump. They won’t. Its refreshing.

Well, the USSC did rule that presidents are immune from prosecution for official acts while in office. Is that opening for Trump to ignore the courts ?

IANAL, but it seems to me that there would be separation-of-powers issues there.

The admin seems to appeal every roadblock swiftly, and mostly win the point in the end. I don’t know what else the executive branch can do about rogue jurists. Impeachment needs to be done by Congress. The judiciary refuses to discipline itself; and the executive has no power against them that I can discern, except to ignore them, which opens a new can of worms.

Maybe Trump needs to go there, precipitate a genuine Constitutional crisis, and force the SC to clean up the judicial cesspool. With the media stirring the pot, idk how that would turn out. If Congress goes blue in 2026 we would be seeing more impeachment votes.

Congress has the power:

Power of Congress to Control The Federal Courts

Clause 2. In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be a Party, the Supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all other Cases before mentioned, the Supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

They must be waiting for the new Congress in 2026. Democrats already claiming that any wins by the Trump admin will come later and the “bumpy road” Trump talked about will occur closer to the midterms where the dems will blame the republicans for failing the American people with hopes of at least getting back the Senate and hopefully the House in 2026.

The president is not immune from impeachment for high crimes and misdemeanors, such as defying lawful court orders, no matter how unethical and politically contaminated they are.

Thank you for that thoughtful response; but the GOP leaders should be keeping us up to date and informed.

I would recommend 4 a.m. SWAT raids as a start. It is not like the left has not done this numerous times. Make sure that lethal force authorization is in place just to make it fair.

Since the Republicans are in control, they own this and the voters will act on their failure to stop this in 2026. If they move too slowly, the economic bumpiness Trump spoke of will occur closer to the midterms allowing the democrats to dishonestly blame the party in control.

such as defying lawful court orders

I'll resist the narrative, and ask how a Federal DISTRICT Judge has lawful authority to issue an injunction which affects anything outside his district. Who gets do decide whether or not a judge's order is Lawful?
