This music was composed by Johan Beckers and became a hit for Nino Rossi. Il Silenzio was written in tribute to all who died in the two world wars.
Every Memorial Day I get out my Dad's WWII photos - pictures of 18-year old kids battling through North Africa and Italy - I remember the one's Dad would point out that were later lost in combat.
From Lexington and Concord to Iraq and Afghanistan, and all points in between - we are ever grateful for those that laid down their lives for us.
"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." John 15:13
Thanks ❤️

AMEN
My Dad wouldn’t talk much about the war. He served in the Army Air Corp Pacific Theatre.
I asked him once when I was little if he hated the enemy.
He paused awhile and said, I fought because I loved my country and my family. But, the enemy fought him because thought he was right. And, he probably had his own family to protect and maybe a little girl of his own.
Many tears this morning. I don’t know much. He ended up in the hospital more than once. My Dad was a pilot but ended up serving in the jungle and using Morse Code to relay information to tell U.S. planes where to bomb. He contracted Malaria.
He taught no matter how cold it was to always take a shower and to wear dry socks. Apparently, wet socks would get embedded into the skin.
Until the day he passed away, he would only buy Coke Cola. My Dad said even if they were close to running out of bullets, somehow they would get thru to them.
My Dad said to always vote. He said it was like pis-ing on a soldiers grave couldn’t vote because he had died to give me the right to vote.
Ok, crying again, miss my Dad
P.S.
He also said the one thing all the G.I.’s wanted to drink was a fresh, cold glass of milk!
