A woman is jailed after prosecutors on Monday accused her of stabbing her 7-year-old son for making a mess in their Rogers Park apartment over the weekend.
As we reported Saturday, Chicago police arrested the woman at Evanston Hospital after she went there to have her son treated for a stab wound.
Yesterday, prosecutors said Llovana Torres, 26, stayed up late on Friday night cleaning her apartment in the 1700 block of West Touhy. But she awoke on Saturday morning to discover that her son had made another mess.
She struck her son a number of times, and he hid in a cabinet under the kitchen sink to get away, according to the allegations.
Torres tried to pull him out, but when those efforts failed, she grabbed a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbed him, prosecutors claimed.
After the boy screamed, Torres took him to her mother’s apartment downstairs, and the grandmother ordered her to take him to the hospital, officials said.
Evanston Hospital transferred the boy to Lurie Children’s Hospital by air ambulance, and he remained on a ventilator as his mother stood in court yesterday.

She beat, then stabbed her son, then took him to her mother’s home. Why? Did she want to leave him with Grandma while she (the ‘Mom’) cleaned the place up again?
Not the least bit concerned with getting medical treatment for her child. She had to be ‘ordered’ to take the boy to the hospital. This should forfeit her parental rights for good, but I’m not so sure that will happen.
This was not a case of a quick flash of bad temper.
This was a sustained attack on a 7 year old child.
Kids can be messy. A child, especially a little boy may have been bored.

Her mother, boys grandmother told her to take him to the hospital when she saw the boy’s condition. He was then airlifted to a specialty hospital & is on a ventilator. His diaphragm was lacerated & he had a stab in his leg as well. T
he mother called the grandmother to ask her to lie about what happened. There was an 11 year olld cousin who witnessed the mother’s attack.
Well, there goes “Mother of the Year Award”!...............................
Sounds like the kid might not make it.
