President Donald Trump is calling on Republican lawmakers to support “The One Big Beautiful Bill” that would cut taxes and stop illegal aliens from receiving Medicaid.

Trump took to Truth Social to urge Republicans to galvanize behind the bill.

“Republicans MUST UNITE behind, ‘THE ONE, BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL!’ Not only does it cut Taxes for ALL Americans, but it will kick millions of Illegal Aliens off of Medicaid to PROTECT it for those who are the ones in real need,” he wrote.

“The Country will suffer greatly without this Legislation, with their Taxes going up 65%. It will be blamed on the Democrats, but that doesn’t help our Voters,” he added. “We don’t need ‘GRANDSTANDERS’ in the Republican Party. STOP TALKING, AND GET IT DONE!”

Trump and congressional Republicans are not on the same page.

I would argue they aren’t even in the same party.

Trump has the cards in that he beat a rigged system to win an electoral landslide and a majority of the popular vote.

The Lilliputians got NO cards.

Each member is trying to thread the needle on what they feel will get he or she re-elected which will be counterproductive.

I don’t see the Republican wing of the uniparty keeping the majority in the coming midterms.

And as much contempt as I have for the Democrats, I can’t say the Republicans deserve to be rewarded with a majority based on their PUTRID performance in 2025.

Why is COVID relief and Inflation Reduction Act and DOGE-identified waste and pork still in there. Don’t sign until they are gone!

The bill only allows Medicaid for illegals to be cut off AFTER 2029 and also does nothing to prevent able bodied people from getting medicaid so yes some portions of this bill need to be changed

Of all the things talked about to be included in the "Big, Beautiful Bill," the one thing that would have helped me the most was to eliminate taxes on SS.

It would be profoundly disappointing if the final passage omitted this crucial benefit.

The realization is setting in that it will take two or three Republicans presidents in a row to get real change made, but with cowardly Repukes in Congress it won’t matter. I’m afraid Trump is just a four year delay until the inevitable Democrat takeover again and our doom as a nation.

Of course they will. R's hate being in the majority.

That is one thing I actually respect about the D's. They say what they believe in. It's all evil, ridiculous stuff that won't work and will always accomplish the opposite of what they intend...but they stick to it.

They say they want abortion....they fight for it.
They say they want to increase spending....they fight for it.
They say they want to increase regulation....they fight for it.
They say they want racial preferences....they fight for it.
They say they want the government to run all aspects of your life....they fight for it.

R's on the other hand, love to say they are FOR things when they don't actually have any power to accomplish them so they are never forced to do the things they claim to want.

This is why they would be happy as clams to lose the House next year and get back to saying...."We are doing everything we can to stop the Dem agenda. You should be greatful that we only allowed them to enact 90% of it."

Terrible way to legislate. You put a little bit of something in it for everyone. Several years ago, we the people in Oklahoma, changed our constitition to prohibit any bill with more than one item of legislation. It was designed to get rid of wooly boogers and feather bedding. It was an initiative petition and without going through legislature. I was in the principal group that challenged a multi subject bill, and the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional. So, no law was enacted because it contained more than one subject.

I’ve often though that the USA needs a similar restriction and attitude. Deal with the border on its own. Deal with SALT on its own. Deal with the 2017 tax bill on its own. And so on. Then members of Congress could not cobble together something that raises spending in order to placate enough members to move forward.

But, it will never happen in the USA Congress.

Oh you should see some of the other threads. The true sycophants are enraged that Trump was defied. They have no capacity to think independently.

Yep, and if you bring up legitimate points against this big beautiful bill then you’re an idiot suffering from TDS.

I’m looking at these other threads as well. Thankfully I see mostly FReepers who see pros and cons.

But I’m 66 years old and I want my Social Security taxes eliminated.

There’s nothing big or beautiful if that campaign promise is not there.

Trump can start by expending less energy on foreign policy adventures, getting buttered-up by Muslims and trying to sway the outcome in the Ukraine.
