Vengeful at Home, Trump Takes His Forgiving Side on Tour
The New York Times ^ | May 15, 2025, 1:30 p.m. ET | uke Broadwater, Jonathan Swan and Vivian Nereim

At home, President Trump is ordering up investigations into his political opponents and finding creative ways to use his executive power to ruin the lives of even some of his milder critics.

Abroad, Mr. Trump has sent a different message: Let bygones be bygones. Even if those bygones involved trying to assassinate him or working with Al Qaeda.

In a series of speeches and off-the-cuff remarks during the first major foreign trip of his second term, Mr. Trump has told audiences in the Middle East that he is willing to set the past aside in the interests of peace and profit.

“I have never believed in having permanent enemies,” Mr. Trump said in a speech on Tuesday at the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum in Riyadh. “I am different than a lot of people think.”

His statement about permanent enemies related to his outreach to Iran — a government accused of plotting to assassinate him after he left office. (Iran denies this.) But just a little while later, in the same speech, Mr. Trump offered a more surprising olive branch.

He announced he would lift U.S. sanctions on Syria, throwing an economic lifeline to a country ravaged by decades of repression, civil war, terrorism and poverty exacerbated by international isolation.

“The sanctions were brutal and crippling and served as an important — really, an important function, nevertheless, at the time,” Mr. Trump said of Syria. “But now it’s their time to shine.”

The next morning, on Wednesday, Mr. Trump met in Riyadh with Syria’s new president, Ahmed al-Shara. Mr. al-Shara, who led the rebel alliance that overthrew the dictator Bashar al-Assad in December, once had close ties with Al Qaeda, and his rebel group is designated by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization...

Vengeful!

Dealing with a house full of snakes, spiders, scorpions, rats and cockroaches is somehow vengeful?

If only this were true. If only the administration were bringing various Leftists who weaponized government against THEIR political opponents to justice. I see no signs of that so far. There have been no 6am raids complete with compliant media right there to witness prominent Democrats being arrested in their bathrobes, no Leftist protestors being denied bail and thrown in prison for years for misdemeanors - and badly mistreated while in prison. There have been no novel legal theories used to go after President Trump's political opponents, no intelligence operations against Democrats, no lying by intel agencies and DOJ lawyers to FISA courts to allow them to spy on his political opponents, etc. Unless all the above happens, things are not even.

Trump has been shot and nearly shot, impeached twice, had an election stolen from him, hounded through the courts and by a special prosecutor for crimes he did not commit, and denigrated, defamed, and slandered by the media and all of the Democrats who make up nearly half of the country. Most people would slink away with their tails between their legs, some might even commit suicide if they were treated this poorly. Yet he should be forgiving of all the offenses against him. Bull$#!+. I actually think he has been way too nice to the idiots arrayed against him. Many of them should be arrested and imprisoned and some should be executed.

There’s no evidence that he is vengeful

There is lots of evidence he is careful, considerate, and not vengeful.

The New York Slimes spoke so well of Hitler in bygone days, but can’t say one good thing about President Trump. Just tells you what a bunch of fascists they are. The Slimes was run by the self-loathing Jew Arthur Hays Sulzberger during WWII, and kept the anti-Nazi rhetoric down to just about nothing then. They even had their foreign correspondent stationed in Berlin get an invite to Hitler’s 50th birthday party.

You’d be amazed how many clicks this NYT writer gets just from Freepers or lurkers that see it here or the FR post shows up on google search results. That’s why I always look for the same story on NY Post or Washington Times - a bit more of a filter.

I make sure my cable channel is not playing ABC during a time when The View is on. (In case the cable networks know who is tuned in) I don’t want to give The View or any other liberal show a false rating that someone here actually likes The View.

I know. I understand your approach to expose the NYT. But they see clicks as ratings.

Vengeance is defined as punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong.

In other words, The New York Times is admitting POTUS Trump was injured or wrong by those receiving his vengeance.

Why not wonder if no injuries or wrongs had been committed against POTUS Trump?

He’s consistent: destroy your enemies that wont make a peace deal with you.

So, media must die, dems must die, iranians and chinese and muslims still might make a peace deal, so live yet.
