The energy company behind a partially completed wind farm off Long Island’s coast warned it will scrap the project “within days” if it’s kept in limbo by the Trump administration.
Norwegian-based Equinor said it’s losing a whopping $50 million a week since Trump’s Department of the Interior halted construction on the controversial project that is expected to deliver energy to 500,000 homes in New York City, its leaders told The Post.
“We will have to terminate the program within days if we don’t have a resolution with the federal government,” said Molly Morris, Equinor’s president of Renewables in America. “This situation is unsustainable.”
The loss of the Empire Wind project would be a blow to New York state’s green energy push and also mean the loss of as many as thousands of jobs needed for building the sprawling wind farm.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
End the subsidization and compelled use of wind power, but allow it where it is economical without government incentives. This seems to be Trump’s approach.
It’s a win, for America, for the birds and for the consumers since NY will be forced to develop a reliable energy grid without this “project” that would supposedly fix their problems.

just accelerating their upcoming BK
“if we don’t have a resolution with the federal government,” So if you want to build wind farms and sell electricity, then you need to figure out how to do it and make money, without the Government subsidies.
You are correct. With no exceptions is a product subsidized that is economic on its on merits.
Seems like the global warming scammers can't live without taxpayers......
I’m sure the whales are celebrating.

That’s called a WIN-WIN where I come from. 😏
How do you lose money on a project that is not complete? Are they working arbitrage with construction grants? It would seem to be a savings if the cancellation of the project keeps them from spending their own money.

Agreed. About the only location where a wind turbine makes sense is if you mount it in front of Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s mouth.
can hear the cheering coming from up there all the way down to my house. Get those windmills out of there!
Unfortunately the WEF cult dominates the boardrooms of most multinationals.

The Norwegians say "We will have to terminate the program within days if we don't have a resolution with the federal government,” but what they mean is "if we don't get funds from the federal government."
So the project isn't viable, like so many of those all across Europe without being paid from public funds to charge the public for their "services."
Equinor says of themselves: "Equinor is a Norwegian company that produces oil and gas, renewable power and low-carbon solutions. It aims to become a net-zero energy company by 2050 and collaborate with others to solve the energy transition."
1) There is no such thing as "net-zero," excepting as a political statement. 2) Solving the "energy transition" is malarkey, and also a huge political statement, rooted in Europe's Lefty class costumed in "climate change." 3) Equinor wants MONEY. Taxpayers' money.
Lastly, Equinor isn't "terminating." It is being terminated. Fired.
US orders halt to construction of Equinor's New York offshore wind project Reuters, 17 April 2025.
“This situation is unsustainable.”
Since about the time of rural electrification in the USA.
Sunk cost fallacy.
Deep State loves that one.
Oh you mean without taxpayers picking up the losses, the project is dead? What a surprise.
“This situation is unsustainable.”
LOL…leftists always yammer on and on about “sustainability,” but their wind project fails that simple requirement.
