Trump, Raking In Cash, Expands His Power in the G.O.P. Money World
The New York Times ^ | May 10, 2025 | Theodore Schleifer and Shane Goldmacher

His super PAC, which is said to have amassed $400 million alongside its nonprofit arm, has grown even more influential. And powerful groups for congressional Republicans are being stocked with Trump allies.

President Trump is harnessing the Republican Party’s all-encompassing deference to him to exert even greater control over the G.O.P. big-money world, which had long been one of the party’s final remaining redoubts of Trump skepticism.

For years, the super PACs allied with House and Senate Republicans have been some of the most powerful and independent fiefs in American politics, raising and spending hundreds of millions of dollars in each election.

But even though Mr. Trump is in his second term and cannot run again, he is quickly bringing them inside his sphere of influence — a sign that his dominance over the party could endure well into the future.

Both super PACs, the Congressional Leadership Fund and the Senate Leadership Fund, have new leaders this year, and they are working closer than ever with the White House, overhauling their boards of directors and installing veteran Trump strategists in senior positions.

At the same time, Mr. Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., and its allied nonprofit group have already amassed roughly $400 million since the 2024 election, according to two people briefed on the fund-raising who insisted on anonymity to discuss the organization’s finances. That sum is without precedent so early in an election cycle, especially for a termed-out president. The Trump super PAC is expected to play a major role in the midterm elections, scrambling the usual flow of cash and encroaching on the traditional dominion of the congressional super PACs.

The changes — both in personnel and financial firepower — amount to a fundamental reordering of Republican finance, and an extraordinary expansion of Mr. Trump’s already overwhelming sway. Interviews...

How much did it cost Trump and team to fight these ‘people’ in court?

My thought for the mid-terms:

Trump has amassed a list of people in Congress who are not his allies.
Trump has amassed a lot of political cash.
Trump has a lot of legal cases queued up for both Democrats and Republicans in Congress. He can put people on trial and make his enemies look really bad.
Trump is going to primary some Republicans and sink some Democrats.
Trump is going to get the judge problem resolved thoroughly.
The second half of Trump’s term is going to be amazing.

WTF?? The cowards hide behind Congressional rules and process to avoid doing much, and try to sabotage Trump from behind the hedges. But, we found out trailer trash Tillis anyway.

It's priceless. The higher the cost the more they are for sale which means they are fake balls, but evidently right now they don't even exist for free or otherwise.

I won’t give the NYT the click, and their record says this could easily be untrue. But if it is true, How great is that!

The Bush family would have had $$$ coming in if they had NOT gone RAT-lite.
The first time in 37 years we are finally fighting back.

Bush 41 was Deep State. He did a good job though. He knew the swamp. Because he was one of them.

So if we had to vote for a swamp guy, Bush 41 was probably the best guy we could get.

His biggest problem was that he was "out of touch".

Dubya learned from his father's mistakes.

Trump needs the ability to muscle a Uniparty Congress by maximizing his veto power.

The tax cut continuations can be made to go year by year, with the corporate tax cut continuation separated from the personal income tax cut continuation. The personal income tax cut continuation can be done incrementally.

Members of Congress would have answer for failure to extend tax cuts and we all know what cowardly people they are. Trump on the other hand will never again run for office.

There would be several must pass tax cut continuation bills each year. Minor reforms could be attached to each.

If Trump can’t fix things, your real property tax bills might soar. And so might your income tax tabs. The loss of the Trump tax cut for a year would be small change comparately.

This is the crisis in modern American politics that has the elitists flummoxed ... that the populist people have woken up and are demanding accountability from the people they elect. It's this populism BS run amok. It's baaa-aaadddd. Really bad. Some productive folks driven astray by white racism wake up and realize they are being had every which way and they are angry. Needs to stop before someone the elites genuinely care about, e.g. one of them, gets hurt.

But Trump has to deal with 650 district judges. Those judges don’t care how much money Trump had.

Judiciary supremacist Roberts will back his brethren in black robed.

The corporate tax cut doesn't need to be renewed.
