A New York budget item negotiated by Albany Democrats sets aside $10 million to cover “reasonable" private legal expenses that state employees incur in defense of actions brought by President Donald Trump's administration since Jan. 1.
Although the fund is for any state employee, critics say it appears to have been set up for New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is the subject of a criminal investigation opened by the FBI and U.S Attorney’s Office in Albany on Thursday.
NYS taxpayers pay to defend the corrupt AG Peekaboo James!
Net York is California stupid.
I know the NY Post article was posted after the fact. Did a title search for “James” and it didn’t show up at that point.
James falsifying bank documents is a serious crime, often a federal felony, and carries significant penalties. Depending on the circumstances and the specific laws violated, it can result in imprisonment for many years, substantial fines, and other consequences like asset forfeiture.
Falsifying bank documents, especially with the intent to defraud, can be a federal felony.
18 U.S.C. § 1002: This section of the U.S. Code deals with possessing false, altered, forged, or counterfeit writings or documents to defraud the United States or any agency thereof.
18 U.S.C. § 1005:
This section prohibits making false entries in bank records, reports, or statements with the intent to defraud or deceive.
18 U.S.C. § 1344:
This law addresses bank fraud, which includes obtaining money or property from a financial institution through fraudulent means.
Conviction for bank fraud can lead to imprisonment for up to 30 years and/or a fine of up to $1 million, as well as potential asset forfeiture. Under 18 U.S.C. § 1002, penalties include fines and imprisonment for up to five years.
Falsifying bank statements, deposit slips, loan applications, or any document used to obtain money or property from a bank are all examples of falsifying bank documents.
The crime typically requires intent to defraud or deceive, meaning the person knowingly made false entries or used false documents with the goal of gaining something illegally.
Undoubtedly for those “baseless, discredited allegations.”

“NYS taxpayers pay to defend the corrupt AG Peekaboo James”
In know someone who pays $18,000.00 a year in property taxes for a little house
Why they put up with it don’t know
They have her dead to rights. How could anyone be that stupid, especially for a government official who just got through persecuting Donald Trump over an accounting error. We all know that the state of New York won’t do anything, just look at former Governor Cumo. He murdered over 10,000 seniors with his Covid deth camp scenario.
This will be Bondi’s greatest triumph to put James behind bars.
Agreed, but I'd have to preface your statement with,
"to-date."
There's a LOT more work to do once they shut down the lawfare by the activist judicial branch...IF the repubbies' balls drop.
Dear new york taxpayers...open your wallets! LOL!
Black lives matter........ it is the responsibility of the state government to insure that fact
Kissing Black Ass is the key to remaining in power
The Hamptons?
Corrupt governments protect corrupt government employees ... until those employees are no longer any use to the corrupt government then Ta Ta.
It’s called Protected Class Hubris. Minorities have gotten away with so much including and up to murder. Rules for white folks not for us.
Nope
No and where they are the kids get bussed past where the beautiful old school building has been taken over by government workers to the school district where they spend the day with illegals. Ms 13
Yikes! We live between Rochester and Syracuse. Because the government here has enabled and incentivized bad tenant behavior, I am letting my one vacancy and about to go online two beautifully rehabbed townhouses go vacant than rent them out to the dregs.
New Yorkers pay a lot for that
This makes no sense. The State of New York legislating to cover private legal fees for State Officials accused of offenses having NOTHING to do with their official duties or capacities makes no sense, at all.
Why should the taxpayers of NY be on the hook for those fees?
Of course, New York gets the government it elects. SO...
If the budget passes, and Big Tish gets funds, this will be ripe for a lawsuit claiming it is not a “reasonable” legal defense. I’m sure there is one MAGA judge somewhere in New York who should get the case.
EC
It’s remarkable what New York taxpayers will support. Crime seems to be fine there whether committed by street thugs or government officials.
