Trump eying Fox News host Jeanine Pirro for top prosecutor in DC
ABC News ^ | May 8, 2025 | Katherine Faulders and Will Steakin

President Donald Trump is strongly considering installing Fox News host and former prosecutor Jeanine Pirro as interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

The potential selection comes as Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Thursday that Ed Martin, who is currently serving as D.C.'s interim top prosecutor, would not be taking the position permanently after losing support among top Republicans in the Senate.

An announcement about a new interim U.S. attorney could come as soon as Thursday, sources said. Sources caution that plans could always change and a decision is never final until publicly announced by the president.

What about Mark Levin?

Mark has some health problems that would preclude him from a full time position. That said, Trump did appoint him to a part time advisory committee.

Speculation is Tillis has been caught with some questionable real estate dealings and doesn’t want a bulldog like Martin looking into it.

So how come Ed Martin didnt get the job and Tillis refused to confirm him

Ed Martin is the temporary DC prosecutor but can only hold that position for 120 days unless he is confirmed to the position permanently. I don’t think he can be appointed as the “temporary” prosecutor again.

Now Trump has to appoint another temporary prosecutor until one can be found that will please the squishy republicans on the Judiciary Committee and be confirmed by the full Senate. The new temporary prosecutor is Jeanine Piro.

Tillis is going to wish he hadn’t sabotaged Martin.

Repulsicans in our joke of a senate - we cannot get our hopes up.

Not a chance because she might actually take a few of them on but most here would absolutely love it, so they will hate it.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Ed Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney. In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!

Oh I see how it works so judge Jeanine does not need to be confirmed then she’s automatically in

I don’t know anything about her nor have I watched infotainment for almost a quarter century. I’m just amazed that Trump is so dedicated to surrounding himself with media types. I presume he likes that they can present themselves well to the public.

This probably won’t happen, but if Pirro were our Attorney General, I think she would be the aggressive equivalent of Eric Holder. That kind of Mad Dog on a short leash is what we need right now. I could be wrong

That fentanyl drug bust was impressive work by Ms Bondi. I have to admit. Hopefully more will be following soon.
Keep it quiet till it has been done, like your team did this time. Good work.

If Tillis rues the day that he forced Trump to nominate Judge Jeanine, he can blame himself.

Tillis is a J6 ideologue. He might agree with us on some matters, but can’t see past the trees to behold the forest.

Pirro could have been an excellent AG.

IMO... she would be a FAR BETTER AG than Pam Bondi.

Pirro, when necessary can be TOTALLY RUTHLESS as an attorney.. which is EXACTLY what the position requires. Pam Bondi, conversely, has TOO MUCH heart!

Pirro would be fantastic. Razor sharp and knows her stuff, but we don’t even know if she’s going to do it yet. Do we?

Amen.

Between @JudgeJeanine’s appointment and @EagleEdMartin’s new posts, Senate Democrat (and their controlled opposition Senate Republicans) are going to wish Ed Martin stayed on as DC U.S. Attorney.
