Chief Justice John Roberts stressed the importance of judicial independence during public remarks Wednesday, noting that the judiciary’s role as a co-equal branch of government is central to the nation’s political system.
“The judiciary is a coequal branch of government, separate from the others with the authority to interpret the Constitution as law, and strike down, obviously, acts of Congress or acts of the president,” Roberts said at an event in his native Buffalo, New York.
The judiciary’s role, Roberts added, is to “decide cases but, in the course of that, check the excesses of Congress or the executive.”
That work, Roberts said, “does require a degree of independence.”

Where again is it in the Constitution that the Judiciary can strike down acts of the President?
Judicial independence doesn’t mean you run the effin’ country John boy. We elected Trump president to defend the country against foreign and domestic enemies, not you.

Robert’s is playing for the other team. He no longer cares about Constitution, or will of the people, just how to slow the progress of Trump. I have stated the obvious. Trump needs to concentrate on fiscal efficiency for the government, and free and fair elections for the midterms. Potentially, with enough of both, Robert’s can be exposed.

That supposed authority is NOT provided for in the Constitution, but was appropriated by the Supreme Court in Marbury vs Madison in 1803. It infuriated Thomas Jefferson.
But the politicians let it stand.

Just two years after John Roberts was confirmed as Supreme Court chief justice, his wife Jane Roberts began a career as a law recruiter — a move which netted the couple millions of dollars, a new report has revealed.
Records from Jane Roberts’s employer Major, Lindsey & Africa show that the lawyer-turned-recruiter made $10.3 million in commissions between 2007 and 2014. During that time, Roberts placed lawyers at top firms; though Insider, which first published the documents, found no evidence that the recruits had personally argued cases in front of her husband, it is likely that she placed clients in firms that have had business at the High Court.
This amount of compensation is at the higher end for legal recruiters, and experts say that Jane Roberts’s ability to perform as a recruiter — a job in which connections across the industry are invaluable — was likely boosted by her marriage to the highest-ranking judge in the U.S.
The details of Jane Roberts’s compensation were included in a complaint filed in December, with documents sent to congressional committees. The complaint was filed by Kendal B. Price, a colleague of Jane Roberts at Major, Lindsey & Africa.
“When I found out that the spouse of the chief justice was soliciting business from law firms, I knew immediately that it was wrong,” Price said in an interview with Insider. “During the time I was there, I was discouraged from ever raising the issue.”

I think an investigation of Roberts and his foreign adoptions is in order if he wants to play hardball, then batter up.
Trump is but a temporary reprieve and this country is cooked. It's just a matter of time.
It’s been a GREAT first 100 days. If DJT ignores the judicial anarchism currently trying to ruin America, the remainder of his term will even be better.
And when he bent over backward to approve Obamacare, he stressed the court taking political “realities” into account to preserve the integrity of the court. It sounds like the only consistent principle is doing what the establishment wants. If he doesn’t reign in the district court judges and their national injunctions, he’ll be signing a national suicide pact.
Even that is only for laws and statutes.
Where does the Constitution say that unelected lifetime tenure politicians can rewrite the laws in real-time? Or that his co-equal branch has the right to simply dictate policy to the Executive?
That’s not “co-equal”. That’s preemptive and arrogant.
