U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, jointly with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other law enforcement partners, executed search warrants in Southern Mississippi that resulted in multiple arrests involving illegal immigration, cockfighting, and other criminal activity. The search warrants were part of an ongoing undercover investigation into the unlawful cockfighting in Harrison County, Mississippi.
The arrests included United States citizens and suspected illegal aliens found at the site of the makeshift animal fights attended by some people from outside Mississippi. Two defendants, Alvin Smith III and Herbert Kasey Smith, were charged with violating the Animal Welfare Act for hosting the cockfights bi-weekly on their property at 16478 Northup Cuevas Road, according to court documents.

I’m all for busting up cockfighting rings, but why was ICE involved?
Suspected illegals there?
FWIW, I went to highschool with a white guy in the 80’s who would in the late 90’s or early oughts get arrested in the greater Nashville area for this. So it’s not just illegals doing it.
Also, this is HUGE in the Philippines. I was visiting my wife’s family, and was shocked to see a channel on cable that seemed to be dedicated to supplements and equipment for your rooster. Just 1 infomercial after another.
In central Alabama saw a bunch of three foot tall a-frames in a fenced in yard. There were several with a roaster outside with some on top. Figured out it was a roster farm. Each shed had a rooster tied to it. Saw a couple of smaller yards in Northern Florida.
In the mid 70s in rural Ga it was pretty common on the shady side of the tracks. Bunch of good ol white boys doing it. Dog fighting to a lesser extent. Everyone knew where the fights were it just depended on whether you wanted to be seen there before you went church the next day.
Growing up in rural VA with a friend who’s Dad got a chicken farm.
He told me his family has been involved in cockfighting for years. and it has been going down hill since non-whites starting to get involved, started about 25 years ago.
