US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted operations in Nashville this week, resulting in the arrests of a convicted child sex predator and an alleged gang member, but the mayor of the city said the arrests were not focused on making the city safer.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shared Democratic Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s letter to the city about the ICE arrests.
“Our top priority is keeping people safe, and we’re deeply concerned that what appear to be federal actions are making that harder,” O’Connell wrote. “Overnight, we understand that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents detained people during enforcement actions in Middle Tennessee. As we learn more, I want to be clear: No [Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD)] personnel were involved in last night’s enforcement action.”
He added that the city’s police department does not have federal immigration authority, nor are its members trained to conduct immigration enforcement.

Hard to believe that back in the mid 1990s, I wanted to live and work in Nashville (legally of course). This guy sounds like the San Francisco Mayor in Dirty Harry, lol.

This law requires all aliens in the United States for more than 30 days to register with the federal government. Failure to comply is a crime, punishable by fines, imprisonment, or both.
Upon registration and fingerprinting, DHS will issue proof of registration. All noncitizens 18 and older must carry this documentation at all times. This administration has directed DHS to prioritize enforcement, there will be no sanctuary for noncompliance.

Too bad, so sad. Democrats are focused on breaking American society into violent, warring groups.

In the 1970s the cops were mostly white guys. The perps were almost all Black or Hispanic. Although, in Dirty Harry the bad guy was a white man.
I watched The French Connection after Hackman’s death. The first thing I noticed was that all the bad guys were Italian mobsters and the bar Popey went into was all full of Black druggies. My wife noticed how much trash was in NYC everywhere in 1971.
