So the drug addict burden will be placed on private insurance companies. So the rest of us will see our rates go up to cover this. Maybe you were just a bad mom

Detox and short term treatment should be provided by insurance companies.

According to the Bible, Jesus spent 40 days and nights in the wilderness, where he was tempted by Satan and ministered to by angels. This period of 40 days is significant in the Bible, often symbolizing a time of trial, testing, and purification.

Maybe we can convince leaders of the significance of this particular frame of time.

Why should they be required to provide this kind of coverage? Don't be a typical lefty.

The junkie wants to get high.

The standard treatments don’t aim to get the junkie high.

The junkie will use illegal substances.

Junkies die.

Her kid died from an overdose of an illegal drug and she wants the insurance companies punished.

Yep, that’s California alright.

What should insurance cover? High blood pressure? Obesity? Neurosis? Depression? Lung cancer? Liver failure? Diabetes?

Inquiring minds want to know.

So, the answer is to put more regulations on insurers so patients can’t get the prescriptions they need? Government interference in health care is what brought us to where we are today.

No insurance company should be required to pay for anything risk did not fully voluntarily choose to insure.

Detox and short term treatment should be provided by insurance companies paid for by people who pay health insurance premiums..

Try being honest about your collectivism, at least.

As a mom of a deceased son I find your statement offensive. There are many reasons why someone overdoses or dies in other tragic ways. I pray you never have that pain.

That will drive your rates up. In my view, anybody seeking treatment should be sent to a farm to create that distance between their drug and themselves. They can do farm work and eat well and get good exercies.

That would probably do more for them than anything else.

In the article, they want insurance companies to report anytime they deny coverage.
So huge burden of paperwork for the companies, but nothing to really help anybody!

The only thing insurance companies should be required to pay for is what they choose to contract to pay for.

I’ve been low-income for most of my life.

No freaking, upper middle class, pushy SOB should be able to make it so I can only buy a health insurance Cadillac when I can only afford to pay for a health insurance city transit bus.

A mom that can lobby in Sacramento can get a job and enter into a payment plan with a treatment center.

Well … DUH. Isn't it self evident?

No, she isn’t necessarily a bad mom. Drug addicts are their own worst enemy.

“What should insurance cover?”

Deadly and severely disabling stuff no person could overcome personally or merely with the help of one person who could be compensated from the person’s income.

Mom could buy a pair of handcuffs and chain Junior to the shower doors.
