President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order aiming to slash public subsidies to PBS and NPR as he alleged "bias" in the broadcasters' reporting. The order instructs the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other federal agencies "to cease Federal funding for NPR and PBS" and further requires that they work to root out indirect sources of public financing for the news organizations. The White House, in a social media posting announcing the signing, said the outlets "receive millions from taxpayers to spread radical, woke propaganda disguised as ‘news.'" It's the latest move by Trump and his administration to utilize federal powers to control or hamstring institutions whose actions or viewpoints he disagrees with. Since taking office, Trump has ousted leaders, placed staff on administrative leave and cut off hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to artists, libraries, museums, theaters and others, through takeovers of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. .

Thank you very much and God bless you.
In my mind, The protection begins with a mine field surrounded by coils of barbed wire protecting a rise on top of which are steel barriers and more barbed wire infront of layers and layers of sand bags concealing machine guns with interlaced fire.
It now seems that by developing an executive Order, President Trump has at last mounted an assault on those formidable fortresses.
Detroit’s NPR, WDET 101.9 FM, has been a favorite of mine since the early-to-mid 80’s. Compared to just about all of the ordinary FM rock and roll stations we have around here nowadays, WDET has been a kind of musical sanctuary for listeners to fall back on and perhaps (re)discover some great material we either forgot about or stuff we never even knew existed. For that alone, if it went off the air tomorrow I’d really miss it...And whatever happened to “Dr. Science”? He was always good for a laugh.
Here come the judge..here come the judge...order in the courtroom!!!
Lawsuit in 5.....4....3...2...1
Great news to start off the day.
Yes a lawsuit. But shouldn’t these outfits be in the best interests of the public? I mean the public in general and thus not be politically biased? In a fair court, a lawsuit would have no grounds at all. But they will pick a rat court in a rat district and win.
It should be total elimination!
Two nests of filthy RATagandists, using our money to lie to us.
Gut 'em.
Well, lawsuits are the only way the left has to “govern”.
Wow! He did it for the second time today.
That’s wonderful. But why should I pay for it, when I don’t live within 1000 miles of Detroit?
PBS and NPR
Propaganda broadcasting Service = PBS
National Propaganda Report = NPR
Taxpayer funded until now.
NPR and PBS will exist albeit smaller, even after public funding is cut.
There’s private money that will support them. But that’s okay and frankly the way it should be.
But they will always exist.
Way overdue.
If you get a chance, watch Sen. Kennedy (LA) grill the heads of NPR and PBS in a committee hearing a few weeks back.
This will likely go the Supremes, and Congressional action may be necessary in the long run. But is a great start, thanks to President Trump.
Can't wait to checkout the News Hour and Amanpour tonight.
Good. Those two stations were so liberal leftist it was pathetic.
Border, trade, gender, climate, PBS, waste.....
Now, please: TORT REFORM
After PBS Defunded, All Sesame Street Characters Forced To Move In With Oscar
Nobody, including me, forces you to make a donation. Tax dollars are not their only resource for funding.
Back in the day of the Free Republic Media Chapter which included 500+ active Freepers, we studied the NPR/PBS problem im depth.
Virtually all public broadcast stations are actually state run entities. That is, Republican governors and legislatures could make great changes if they just would.
I will argue that what Trump has done will spur states to get involved, perhaps create a joint task force to completely overhaul the public broad casting business. It in effect no longer really exists in the market dominated by streaming TV.
The outcome will be that public broad casting will be radically transformed.
