HENDERSON, Texas — Timothy Michael Randall was on the phone with his mother when a police car pulled up behind his Nissan Altima with its lights flashing. It was just after 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2022, and Randall was heading to his cousin’s house after a night out.
“He had called to let me know that he was going to be home a few minutes later,” Randall’s mother, Wendy Tippitt, recalled. “So I wouldn’t worry.”
Randall, 29, pulled over and hung up with his mom. Sgt. Shane Iversen of the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office walked up to the Altima and told Randall that he had run a stop sign, police dash camera footage shows. Randall denied doing so, and Iversen ordered him out of the car.
What began as a routine traffic stop, on a country road two hours east of Dallas, quickly spun out of control.

Iversen dug his hands into the front of Randall’s pants and then told him to put his hands behind his back, the dash cam footage shows. Randall kept his arms raised.
“Officer, I don’t have anything on me,” he said.
“Officer, please, can you tell me what I’m under arrest for?” Randall asked moments later.
Iversen didn’t respond. Instead, he wrestled Randall to the pavement.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
That is a shame that he minimized his response. I would have said “I just capped a bad guy with my ‘nine’”.
most Altima drivers should be shot
Have things changed? Does running a stop sign, now carry the death penalty?
The guy was non- co op, but the dashcam doesn’t show any reason that would justify the sergeant shooting the guy.
Bullstuff.
How gay.
Looks like a fat ass jack-booted thug with a badge that never should have been allowed anywhere near a gun. This officer had no reason to fire at the guy at all. Probably has been itching for the opportunity to “smoke” someone his entire career.
The guy had his arms up in the air when he was attacked by the cop.
The guy also was not dangerous when running away from the cop, when the cop killed him.
The cop needs the electric chair.
The officer, Shane Iversen, recently lost qualified immunity in the pending lawsuit, meaning he will pay and not the taxpayers if he loses.
The Free Republic BLM Chapter is in session, I see.
This is murder...sorry no excuses, put them on death row...
The deceased citizen, killed by a thug in public servant livery, was not “black”.
How is that relevant to my comment?
What does “BLM” stand for, in your mind?
It can’t, in context, reasonably be “Bureau of Land Management” so I have to ask.
How gay.
Emily Litela heard it differently:
"What's this about 'I just smoked a doob'?"
"Huh? He actually said what?"
"Never mind."

Seriously though, we're getting way too many reports of LEO abuses of power and authority. Hopefully the spreading civilian use of dash cams, phone cameras and such will help weed these bad apples out of the barrel before more people find themselves staring down a barrel unnecessarily.
