cis’ funeral in Rome,

President Donald Trump revealed Tuesday evening what he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed during their viral meeting at the Vatican when both were in attendance for the late Pope Francis' funeral.

"I was telling him that it's a very good thing if we can produce a deal, that you sign it, because Russia is much bigger and much stronger," Trump said Tuesday evening during a town hall hosted by NewsNation, which he participated in by phone.

The pair met face-to-face for the first time since their contentious Oval Office meeting in February, while both attended the papal funeral. Neither White House or Ukrainian officials gave many details on the nature or content of the talk, other than that it was "productive" and "symbolic."

Big whoop on the stupid minerals deal.

As for what Trump supposedly “revealed” about the meeting — just some nonsensical blather. Nothing of substance or interest truly revealed.

It’s a shale-gas deal.

I don’t think the minerals in Ukraine are all that important. It’s just another tool in the China negotiations.

It’s a shale-gas deal, and it will be good.

And in another year, we will sign a deal with Russia since their occupation lands want the rare earths that we really want.

In the meantime...lets develop our own rare earths here in the USA.

There is no national benefit in continuing this war.

There was never truly a national security argument for why we caused this war with our NATO East expansion during the Biden era.

Simply ask yourself these questions:

1.) How has this war made the average American safer? It has not. It vastly increased the danger / risks.

2.) How has this war made the average American more wealthy? It has not. It has WASTED hundreds of billions and contributed to inflationary pressure as well as caused an acceleration in BRICS and a divestment from the dollar.

3.) How has this war increased the average Americans freedoms? It has not.

This is a war where with stories about democracy, human rights, the unprovoked and sovereignty narratives, people were emotionally coaxed into supporting something which actually only benefits a small minority.

Ironically, those people that usually are against war and military interventions, who are generally unsupportive of the military and talk about the need for dialog and alternative conflict resolution, not war, are the ones foaming at the mouth supporting this war today. Why? A Democrat and liberal led them into this war, Biden.

But at the same time you have folks on the political right which still live in 1947 - 1994, who can't break free from Cold War cliche's. For them, there is still a Soviet and Warsaw Pact threat image which is really long gone. Today, we are the ones pushing them around, invading their sphere of influence (Libya, Venezuela, Syria, Iraq), violating treaties and promises (CFE, Ballistic Missile Treaty, no NATO East expansion), and threatening them (building bases all along their border) today. Times change, but what happens in our formative years tends to shape our world view for life.

This was a completely unnecessary war caused by the West ignoring Russian security concerns and simply thinking we can force our will on them because they are no longer a true near peer conventionally. Our reasoning was likely a gamble, i.e. the cost to Russia in stopping NATO accession by force would be to high.

Make no illusions, we caused this war. This caused this war, and it was ultimately a decision of the Biden administration: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/

Going to have to fight China over access there.
The reds are already there rebuilding processing plants and ramping up the mining in that region.

Again, the alleged “rare earth mineral” deposits in Ukraine are largely unproven, and the remainder largely deemed commercially unviable. I posted these links over and over when this “deal” was first discussed on FR, but here we go again:

“Big whoop on the stupid minerals deal.”

It is a huge deal...you’re probably going to be unimpressed when the President makes a similar deal with Russia. But is will be a huge deal. Get your head out of your Chicago ass and use it for thinking.

I will give it to you straight.
We have grown fond of war.
Untill millions or billions of people go out in a flash, this will continue.

They think its some kind of video war game.
Even if they went to the cemetaries at Normandy it wouldnt dawn on them.

I said out loud at one of those cemetaries that they were monuments to the ignorance of mankind. Elites killing off young soldiers for their political and financial gain.

The Glorious Dead. For who? Theyve lost everything they had and everything they would have had (quote) for those few who dont care.

We have incredible copper reserves here in Arizona that have been shuttered due to regulations and permit problems.

No need for insults and profanity.

Maybe you should explain why it’s a “huge deal”. Can you do that? Or only hurl insults?

BTW, I’m a Southern Lady through and through. No Chicago here. My blood runs iced tea. Except on Derby Day. Then it’s mint Jules all the way.

BTW, Trump himself has twice expressed misgivings about these “rare earth minerals” in Ukraine, once saying “If they’re even worth anything — who knows?”

My truly sincere apologies, I did not realize I was responding to a lady.

The reason it is a huge deal is there are without a doubt rare earth minerals from which we will be a lot of money and indeed same for Ukraine. But, and this is the huge deal part...it will safeguard Ukraine from invasion as any aggressor, no matter who the President is will have to calculate the elevated risk that we will view it as an attack on the US, which it will be. The other huge deal is that Putin will now be more likely to make a peace deal for various reasons but what will very likely happen is the President will make a similar rare earth deal with Russia which will effectively end the evil alliance Russia has with Iran, North Korea and China (who has their own huge problems as well as Iran)
Economic partnerships where both sides win are the most assured way of long peaceful relationships. We all win perhaps. It’s an extraordinary huge deal. It is also the framework for all over the world. And, other countries will be likely to do the same. This is huge on a historical level...

Trump has gone from playing chess to checkers, and this stupid agreement with Ukraine to put Blackrock as the Reconstruction Bank partner in Ukraine continues to make Ukraine an American Interest.

Ukraine is now a Trump interest.

Trump now owns this war. He went past his self imposed deadline to cut longterm multi-decade deals and agreements with Ukraine.

Now Trump will betray those who oppose the war in Ukraine and he will have send more money and equipment to ensure his new investment pays off.

Apology accepted and appreciated re Southern Lady. No hard feelings. That speaks well of you, sir.

Tell ya what — I’ll take you up on that bet. If, ten years from now, both of us (and FR) are still alive and kicking and have our wits about us, and American taxpayers are repaid lovely sums from these rare earth minerals in Ukraine — I’ll make an extra $100 donation (adjusted for future inflation, even) to FR, and throw in a link to a YT animal video of your choice. If not, you donate and provide me a link to a really cool and cute sloth video, or at least a fun video of leaping lemurs.

Deal? I think it’s quite generous of me to allow ten years, as it would take at that long to get any rare earth mineral mining and processing going, even under the best of conditions.

Economic deals with Russia would be he helpful, but good luck prying Russia and China apart at this stage. Had we had a more realist approach from the beginning, Russia would now be a semi-ally in some important respects (especially vis a vis Iran and China). But we’ve been pushing a very reluctant Russia into the arms of China for over two decades now. Biden gave the final hard shove.
