They could always learn to code, right? Oh wait...
Best wishes for you Myrddin.
Management seems to like laying off the walk-on-water types, and then get surprised at the loss of tribal knowledge.
Concur.
Yes.
Clueless greedy executives.
The Intel ceo sounds like a Chinese spy.
The Chinese Intel ceo sounds like a Chinese spy.
I used to work in communications when serving in the U.S. Navy. All the ships I went to, we would have a couple guys in the division whose collateral duty was teletype maintenance. I was always amazed that they could take it apart, put it back together, and there would be extra pieces left over. Yet, the teletype still worked. I used to joke about it with them.
I had a good IT job at Nortel. The Chinese stole all our data and Nortel went bankrupt.
I wouldn't assume that H1B workers are being fired before American workers. Companies/corporations are bottom line oriented. If it's cheaper to pay an H1B techie over his American counterpart, most is not all companies will go with the bottom line, i.e., keep the cheap H1B guy and fire the American.
I've made this point in the past. We often curse the effect and not the cause. This is true about the invasion on the southern border and it's also true about the H1B invasion. In both cases, our wrath should be directed primarily at the government that has enabled and done nothing to stop the illegal alien and H1B invasion.
Trump advisor Musk is no friend to the American worker. He's all in for H1B hires. We should have ZERO H1B visas. All H1B visa holders need to leave.... America and Americans 1st 'should' be the mantra of every government rep, judge, bureaucrat and U.S. company. Sadly, it's not.
Mid-morning yesterday, I saw a disturbing message from the Linux environment. It was out of file descriptor resources. I examined the system and found a bunch of java processes holding huge numbers of open files. One had over 36000. I rebooted and took a baseline of top 10 processes holding file descriptors, then started the "environment" to assess whether it is the culprit. It is. I sent the evidence to the system architect and my boss. It's not nice to toss a live grenade under the restroom stall, but it needs to be addressed.
Learn to wrench.....
That’s job security as long as you aren’t an idiot and willing to learn and get dirty.
Many industries are “recession proof” until they aren’t. The California defense industry was like that for decades until the 1990s, at which point it promptly folded. Hollywood is experiencing the same type of bloodbath and won’t recover (at least not in California). The California state government doesn’t help matters by making it prohibitive to maintain marginal jobs or risk money with a start-up in California due to oppressive taxes and regulations.
That’s right.
Capitalism is always about bottom line. Capitalism where practiced has created most prosperity. You desire protectionism. That is cousin of fascism
Listen again with focus what president Trump & Musk are saying ..America first, not Americans first. Unless you are native American descendent, your roots are immigrants anyways.
