Thousands of people took part in an anti-immigration rally in Dublin city centre on Saturday, alongside a smaller counter-demonstration.
Both passed off without any major incidents with gardaí acting as a cordon between both groups on O’Connell Street.
The anti-immigration protest, described by organisers as an Easter Rising commemoration to pay respect to “those who fought and gave their lives to preserve the Irish nation and create the Irish Republic” began at 2pm at the Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square.
United Against Racism, supported by a number of organisations and members of Opposition parties including Sinn Féin, Labour, People Before Profit, the Social Democrats, the Socialist Party and the Green Party, hosted a counter-protest at the nearby GPO at 1.30pm.
A large number of gardaí were present throughout the afternoon, including the Garda Public Order Unit, Air Support Unit and Mounted Support Unit.
The anti-immigration protest saw those gathered carrying Tricolour flags, wearing green “Make Ireland Great Again” caps and shouting slogans including “get them out” and “Sinn Féin are traitors”. Some carried signs which stated “Irish Lives Matter”, with copies of the 1916 Proclamation handed out.

At one time, the largest export from Ireland turned out to be the Irish people themselves, in the years of the Great Potato Blight, about 1840 or so.
It is suspected there are more Irish outside Ireland than ever recovered in numbers they might be today.
This looks almost like vacant land to outsiders. If any Irish are returning, they may have to fight for a place there.
Rosie must be chagrined. lol
There are about 34 million Irish-descendants in the United States alone. Ireland has a little more than 7 million people, several hundred thousands less than the state of Tennessee.
So there still is a fairly descent sized population there. Like Tennessee it’s anything but vacant.
But they do need a heaping dose of “cultural enrichment” according to the WEF and EU Commission.
This the same Sinn Féin that spent decades screaming about Irish independence? What was the point in killing all those Brits just to turn it over to a bunch of moslems and Aficans?

Everybody has awaken in America accept the half that are parasites living off the American taxpayers.
Don't they understand that diversity is a strength and therefore they must cede their living space and resources to foreigners - who will outbreed, outvote them and replace them?
They need to start having more babies, as do Americans.
