CLEARWATER, Fla. — A boat crash involving the Clearwater Ferry has been declared a "mass casualty incident," public safety officials said Sunday night.
They say the ferry was struck by another boat near the Memorial Causeway bridge, and that the other boat fled the scene.
Police say the ferry had more than 40 people on board at the time of the crash.
Six people were declared as trauma alerts, with two of those being taken by helicopter.
Officials say the boat came to a rest on a sandbar and all passengers were removed.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Convervation Commission are handling the crash investigation.
A lot of oldsters hit the deck when they crashed?
Of course tend to the injured people first, but.... is anybody looking for the other boat? Seems like it would have sustained some damage, and if it "traded paint" (likely) it should be easy to identify. Just askin'.
“mass casualty incident”
Someone’s a drama queen.
True.
Mass casualty events involve three or more people by definition. I thought it was five or more.
Good Samaritans coming to rescue passengers along with the CG.>>> It’s actually maritime requirement to aid a stricken or incapacitated vessel. If you don’t you could be cited

for example Possible penalties ... under Bermuda law include imprisonment for the ship’s captain, and a fine levied against him and his employer.
I hear this morning one had died and they had the perp, but they did not name him...

That’s addressed in the short article you didn’t read.

Actually, I did read the article when the thread was posted, at which time it had no information about the "other board", and certainly no statement about anybody finding it.
You will note the article was updated today to include that info:

But that said, I will take your admonition and apply it to all the times that I DIDN'T read a subject article before commenting on a thread. :-)
