Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine could not accept US recognition of Russia’s annexation of Crimea as he visited South Africa, while both he and Donald Trump criticised a deadly missile and drone attack on Kyiv.
Though he did not mention Crimea – the contested Black Sea peninsula occupied by Russia since spring 2014 – by name, Ukraine’s president diplomatically returned to the topic a day after Trump accused him of intransigence on the issue.

It would be the most hilarious comedy if it wasn't for all the dead people.
But, that's what they get for electing a comedian.

I get that Zelenskky was NOT President at the time that Obama HANDED Crimea to Putin..but if he has an issue with this he can go complain to Obama for handing it over and saying “Here just take it”

No US president past or present would have intervened.

It’s probably more about telling the Ukraine that if they attempt to attack crimea to get it back from Russia that America won’t be there to help them out.
I really haven’t been following much of this story though.

> Crimea has been RUSSIAN SINCE OBAMA LET IT HAPPEN!!The MSM will blame it on Trump, just like they blamed the Vietnam War on Nixon, and it will work.

..... It has already been established a few months ago that he is being coached by the Democrat Party to make no deals in negotiation with the Trump Administration.

He’ll try but he’s boxed out. The euro trash talks big but can’t deliver crap. Especially with Rubio turning up the screws (mixed metaphor) on their military spending or lack of.

Here’s a thought, why does this even have to be addressed? Can’t there just be a ceasefire that doesn’t have to decide any of this? Just maintain the status quo.

No...the Ukrainians handed it to Putin. They surrendered...left their weapons and walked away. They were not going to kill their brothers. It was a Civil War.
What we did do was support the coup that turned Ukraine into an anti-Russian state. The object continues...Ethnic cleansing by the Ukrainians.
To: Mariner
It's way past time Trump cutoff all assistance to Ukraine.
The last thing Trump needs is for this failed war to be linked to him when Biden was the one that got us involved in it.

Crimea was part of Russia until 1954 until it was "gifted" to Ukraine when both were part of the same country.
There is no scenario would have happened if the Soviets had foreseen the Soviet Union breaking up.
Russia has operated a naval base there since before the US Constitution was written.
So, yes, keeping it under Russian control is much a national security issue for Russia as keeping the Panama Canal under our control.
