Trump mulls $5K ‘baby bonus’ for moms in bid to reverse declining birth rates: report

The Trump administration has been mulling ways to get more Americans married and having kids — including a $5,000 “baby bonus” for every new mom after delivery, according to a report.

White House officials have recently been brainstorming plans to tackle the declining birth and marriage rates — and push more Americans toward the traditional family values of Trump and his allies.

Policy experts and advocates for boosting the birth rate have been meeting with White House aides to come up with plans to convince more women to have babies, four people who have been part of the meetings told the New York Times.

One plan would give a $5,000 incentive to new moms, while another would see that 30% of all Fulbright scholarships be given to applicants who are married or have children.

Another option being considered would have the government fund programs to educate women on their menstrual cycles so they can know when they are ovulating and able to conceive, according to the report. White House officials have not yet indicated what plans, if any, they are looking to push forward.

The sources noted that fertility issues will likely become a prominent piece of the agenda in order to achieve the “baby boom” that Trump is seeking.

Politicians are pushing the narrative that the drop in birth rate is due to finances. It's one more lie to avoid the truth that the government has no business in marriage and has increasingly corrupted it.

Government inserts itself into every marriage as an unwelcome third party with its own interests in mind. Until "family" court and "family" law are done away with, there's not much that's going to reverse the trend.

Throwing money at the problem will only contribute to more unwed mothers taking advantage of it.

Low birth rate is because people can’t afford to have families. The people who used to have lots of kids worked good paying blue collar jobs. Sometimes generations worked in the same type jobs.

They married, had families, went to church, had summer vaca once in a while and were able to afford food on the table.

Now, real men have been held back and treated like dogs. Many of the women act like selfish brats.

Good point. A much better solution to this low birth rate problem would be to reduce personal taxes and bring back those factory jobs.

And that’s just what Trump is trying to do.
