Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, April 20, said Russian forces were continuing their shelling and assaults along the front line despite Russian President Vladimir Putin announcing a surprise but brief Easter truce. The 30-hour truce starting Saturday evening would be the most significant pause in the fighting throughout the three-year conflict. But on Sunday, Zelensky accused Russia of having maintained its attacks on the front line after the truce started at 4 pm Paris time Saturday. "Across various frontline directions, there have already been 59 cases of Russian shelling and five assaults by Russian units," Zelensky said on social media, citing a report as of 6 am local time from Ukrainian commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky. He said that in the six hours up to midnight Saturday, there were "387 instances of shelling and 19 assaults by Russian forces," with drones "used by Russians 290 times."

From the very outset, Russia’s so-called "Easter truce" was nothing but a smokescreen. Across multiple frontline directions, Ukrainian forces have already recorded 59 separate instances of Russian shelling and five full-scale assaults. And that was just the beginning.
By 6 a.m. local time, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky reported that in the six hours leading up to midnight on Saturday, Russian forces had launched 387 shelling attacks and 19 ground assaults, with drones deployed 290 times to terrorize Ukrainian positions.
Every time Putin talks of a "pause," it’s a tactical deceit—a cover for escalation. His so-called truces have consistently served as launchpads for intensified aggression.
Take the example of Trump’s proposed 30-day cease-fire, brokered in Saudi Arabia over a month ago—a deal Ukraine signed in good faith. Russia not only rejected it outright but responded with a relentless escalation, targeting civilian infrastructure and unleashing devastation throughout Ukraine. It wasn’t just a military maneuver—it was a calculated provocation. A taunt aimed not just at Ukraine, but at Trump himself.
This isn’t diplomacy. This is war, wrapped in the language of peace, and soaked in blood.
Zelensky’s mouth always gets him trouble. People knew he would start squealing this and he didn’t disappoint.

This isn't a ceasefire. This is a PR stunt.
Zelensky has already accepted Trumps terms. He doesn't like it, he has still done it. That is a fact despite what many want to pretend otherwise.
It is Putin who has not agreed to any negotiations and kept on the attack.
