Former President Joe Biden made his first public remarks since leaving the White House, referring to Black children as “colored kids”—a comment that quickly sparked backlash online, including criticism from voices on the left.
On Tuesday, Biden told an anecdote about his childhood migration from Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Wilmington, Delaware, in which he remarked that until his family moved to “The First State,” he had “never seen hardly any Black people.”
“I was only going in fourth grade,” Biden stated, as he recalled his mother driving him to Catholic school in Wilmington. “And I remember seeing kids going by, at the time called ‘colored kids,’ on a bus go by — they never turned right to go to Claymont High School.”
He went on to say that discovering Black children were banned from attending public schools with White students “sparked my sense of outrage as a kid.”
Meanwhile, many social media users were taken aback by the “colored kids” remark, with one user posting: “Imagine if President Trump referred to Black kids as ‘colored kids.’ The liberals would be fake outraged and they wouldn’t shut up for days. So, who’s the actual racist?”

My greatest disappointment of the Biden years was that he never publicly discussed the volatile political situation in Niger.

I actually thought he mumbled something to the effect of “were called”, suggesting that that’s what they were known as then.

Amazing old Joe managed to speak for nearly a half hour with only occasional memory lapses and mental wandering. His long winded stories about his past days in Scranton can be characteristic of dementia patients who can often remain lucid about past events, but are befuddled about anything contemporary. I would suspicion Joe was well medicated both during and after prior to the event. His facial expressions still show a hollowness as he squints to read his teleprompter . It is frightening to think that this man was Commander in Chief and had control of our nuclear forces.
They've gone through a lot of name chances over the years.
From nǝggers, to negroes, to coloreds, to blacks, to Afro-Americans, to POCs, and I probably missed a few.
When biden was a boy (a young white male as opposed to a negro adult male) colored was the polite term.
With his advanced dementia, I'm willing to cut him a little slack here. Hes lost his present and is dying in his past.
