Judge launches inquiry into Trump administration’s refusal to seek return of wrongly deported man

GREENBELT, Maryland — A federal judge ordered an “intense” two-week inquiry into the Trump administration’s refusal to seek the return of a man who was wrongly deported from Maryland to a notorious prison in El Salvador.

“To date, what the record shows is that nothing has been done. Nothing,” U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis said at a court hearing Tuesday.

Xinis’ order sets up a high-stakes sprint that may force senior Trump administration officials to testify under oath about their response to court orders requiring them to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States. Each day that passes, the judge noted, is another day Abrego Garcia spends improperly detained in a maximum security mega-prison.

“We’re going to move. There will be no tolerance for gamesmanship or grandstanding,” the judge said. “There are no business hours while we do this. … Cancel vacations, cancel other appointments. I’m usually pretty good about things like that in my court, but not this time. So, I expect all hands on deck.”

Xinis’ inquiry is the latest chapter in an escalating clash between the executive and judicial branches over Abrego Garcia’s illegal deportation last month. Xinis previously ordered the administration to “facilitate” his release from the custody of El Salvador, and the Supreme Court upheld that directive last week.

FTA “To date, what the record shows is that nothing has been done. Nothing,”

A flat out lie, we literally have the president of El Salvador being ask and he categorically refused to return the criminal.

I guess stating clearly to millions of people live is not enough evidence now for the Black Robe tyrants who have no interest in actually upholding our laws.

The SCOTUS said to facilitate with deference to the Executive’s powers in this matter. The “judge” does not get to decide if the president tried hard enough.

He was not wrongly deported.

He had two hearings which resulted his being placed on a removal list. That was his due process allowed to an illegally present alien. Both judges found as a matter of fact that he was a member of the terrorist organization MS 13.

No one can be found in contempt, the Trump administration did not place him on the removal list, the court did.Twice. The last judge allowed that he would not be deported to El Salvador, at his request.Thats where the only error is.

He should have been deported to another nation. To correct the error, the man needs to be deported to another country like the Sudan.

Or the facilitation order does not have to be observed other than leaving hi where he is.

There was no violation of his due process rights.

All this fuss over an illegal gang member who is NOT even a US citizen. What a waste of the court's time.

Too bad she didn't order same about J-6ers, American citizens, who were held in DC prisons in isolation on no bail, some for years.

Maybe she should go down to the prison herself and see if she can spring this illegal gang member and fly him back to the US. That will certainly make her look like a hero in the eyes of Americans, right?

What does she use as an “investigation agent” here?
Would that not involve the DoJ?

It will be heart-warming to see this “judicial inquiry” get stonewalled into oblivion.

El Salvador is Deep State Kryptonite.

Both real, and spectacular.

So a judge has declared an investigation into the conduct of the executive branch. So, she, being in the judicial branch, is usurping legislative powers to investigate executive policies with which she disagrees. A writ of prohibition is in order.

I can hardly wait to see what happens to the good Senator from Maryland, Van Hollen who went down there alone. El Salvador is a dictatorship.

The good Senator from Maryland may disappear into the jungle for good, accidentally.Dems are so stupid.

I don’t think she cares. Most likely she hates Trump so much that she’ll do anything and everything in her power to defy him and his administration - up to mandating that violent, illegal gang members who have been rightfully deported are brought back into our country.

The judicial system isn’t two-tiered. It’s rigged.

This “investigation” is not within the purview of an Article III court. No judicial competency is involved.
